Team USA has just received terrible news just hours before the highly anticipated Four Nations Showdown final against Team Canada. They are at serious risk of losing their best defenseman, Charlie McAvoy, who was rushed to the hospital in the past few hours.

This is obviously a major concern for both the Americans and the Boston Bruins.

McAvoy has been outstanding for Team USA since the start of the Four Nations Showdown and is undoubtedly one of the top defensemen in the world.

Charlie McAvoy Admitted to Hospital in the Past Few Hours

A report from journalist Jim McBride:

“Bruins/Team USA defenseman Charlie McAvoy admitted to Mass. General Hospital as he deals with an upper-body injury.”

– Jim Mcbride

We still don’t know the exact nature of his injury, at least at the time of writing, but it’s hard to imagine he will be in the lineup for the final, which is now less than 48 hours away.

This is a developing situation, and we are likely to get more answers in the coming hours.

“The Bruins are expected to issue an update on Charlie McAvoy this morning. The Team USA star D is still having tests run on him.”

– Pierre LeBrun

McAvoy, 27, was the 14th overall pick by the Boston Bruins in the 2016 NHL Draft. He has recorded 23 points in 50 NHL games this season (47 points in 74 games last season).

He earns $9.5 million per year through 2030.
