Marco D’Amico just published an article in which he reports several serious NHL rumors involving the Montreal Canadiens.

Earlier, we mentioned the rumor linking defenseman Mike Matheson to the Edmonton Oilers, and now D’Amico is going a step further.

He also mentions that the name of center Ryan Nugent-Hopkins could be involved in a trade.. Interesting!

A Trade Between the Montreal Canadiens and the Edmonton Oilers Involving Mike Matheson and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins?

Here’s what’s added in Marco D’Amico’s article:

“Mike Matheson’s name is one to watch as Edmonton looks to bolster their offensive defense, while rumors are circulating that the Oilers may consider trading Ryan Nugent-Hopkins to clear cap space.”

The mention of “to clear cap space” could suggest that the price to acquire RNH might be reasonable here.

Could we really be seeing a trade between the Canadiens and the Oilers involving Matheson and Nugent-Hopkins?

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, 32, is a 6-foot-1, 192-pound center.

He was the Oilers’ 1st overall pick in 2011 and recorded 49 points in 78 games this season.

In the two previous campaigns, he tallied 67 and 104 points, respectively.

RNH also added 20 points in 22 Stanley Cup Playoff games over the past few weeks.

He could be an intriguing target for the Canadiens, especially if the Oilers are genuinely interested in Mike Matheson.
