Blockbuster trades in the NHL always spark debate, but few deals have ignited as much ongoing discussion as the recent transaction between the Montreal Canadiens and the New York Islanders.

With Noah Dobson now donning the Canadiens jersey and already making waves in Montreal, questions are swirling about whether the Islanders made the right call in letting go of their promising young defenseman.

Recent comments from Islanders assistant general manager Matt Martin have only fueled the speculation, hinting at a sense of regret within the organization.

As Dobson secures his future with a long-term, lucrative contract in Montreal, the Islanders are left to ponder the impact of their decision, even as they welcome new prospects to their roster.

The fallout from this trade is being felt across the league, with fans and analysts alike eager to see how both franchises will fare in the seasons ahead.

In the midst of all the excitement and second-guessing, one thing remains certain: the ripple effects of this major deal are far from over.

The major trade between the Montreal Canadiens and the New York Islanders, which notably involved Noah Dobson, continues to stir discussion around the NHL.

Why are we bringing it up again today?

Because Islanders assistant general manager Matt Martin recently gave a very interesting interview.

We highly recommend the full episode of the Cam and Strick Podcast.

Listening to him talk, you seriously get the feeling the Islanders already regret trading Noah Dobson.

Do the Islanders Already Regret Trading Noah Dobson to the Montreal Canadiens?

I’m not sure if it’s full-on regret just yet, but one thing’s clear-Martin outright admitted that “the New York Islanders would still like to have Dobson on their team.”

I really wonder what went down in this situation, but one thing’s for sure-Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens aren’t the ones complaining.

Noah Dobson, 25 years old, is a 6-foot-4, 200-pound right-shot defenseman who was selected 12th overall by the New York Islanders in 2018 (1st round).

Following the trade announced last month between Montreal and New York, Dobson immediately signed a new deal with the Canadiens-a contract valid through 2033 that will pay him $9.5 million per year.

With the picks acquired in the trade, the Islanders selected Victor Eklund and Kashawn Aitcheson (16th and 17th overall).

Personally, I really believe the Islanders landed three excellent young players thanks to this trade-but it’s clear that losing a player like Noah Dobson hurts any lineup.
