In a summer already packed with surprises, the Montreal Canadiens have just pulled off a move that has their locker room buzzing—and the entire NHL world talking.

When news broke of the Canadiens’ blockbuster trade for defenseman Noah Dobson, it wasn’t just the fans who were left in shock.

Even captain Nick Suzuki and star winger Cole Caufield, fresh off a trip to Scotland for a teammate’s wedding, admitted they were “freaking out” as the headlines exploded across social media.

But what really happened behind the scenes as this high-stakes deal unfolded? How did the players find out, and what does their reaction reveal about the team’s chemistry and future ambitions?

In a candid moment, Suzuki shared the inside scoop, including a telling text exchange with Dobson himself—hinting at just how much the new acquisition wanted to don the Canadiens jersey.

With Dobson’s impressive numbers and sky-high potential, this trade could reshape Montreal’s blue line for years to come.

But the real story might be what’s brewing in the dressing room, where excitement, anticipation, and a touch of disbelief are setting the stage for a season no one wants to miss.

The TVA Sports network has just reported a juicy statement from Montreal Canadiens captain Nick Suzuki.

It concerns the major trade announced by the Montreal Canadiens, right in the middle of summer, involving defenseman Noah Dobson.

When asked about his reaction when he learned about the Canadiens’ acquisition of Noah Dobson, Suzuki said this:

“Cole and I were freaking out.

I texted Dober (Noah Dobson) to find out if it was true.

It wasn’t finalized yet, but he seemed to be hoping it would go through.”

Wow! Here’s yet another sign that Dobson really wanted to be traded to the Montreal Canadiens, and another sign that the team’s players absolutely loved this acquisition.

Imagine, Caufield and Suzuki found out about the trade on X, while returning from Joel Edmundson’s wedding in Scotland. Wow.

The Canadiens’ trade for Noah Dobson was a real hit in the locker room

We can’t wait to see the results on the ice in just a few weeks.

Of course, let’s recall that Noah Dobson was acquired by the Montreal Canadiens on June 27 from the New York Islanders, in exchange for two first-round picks and forward Emil Heineman.

Over the last two seasons, Dobson has collected 39 points in 71 games as well as 70 points in 79 games.

Since entering the NHL, he has tallied 230 points in 388 games.

It will be interesting to see which Canadiens defenseman he’ll be paired with, but most observers believe it will be the young veteran Kaiden Guhle.

The two could complement each other very well on the ice.
