We have a last-minute development regarding imminent reinforcements within the Montreal Canadiens organization.

As reported by the excellent Anthony Marcotte (BPM Sports), forward Oliver Kapanen’s team, Timra, has officially been eliminated from the Swedish Hockey League (SHL).

Kapanen is now immediately eligible to come to North America and return to play within the Montreal Canadiens organization.

As Kent Hughes mentioned during his most recent press conference, expect to see Oliver Kapanen arrive in town immediately

Now, will it be with the Montreal Canadiens or the Laval Rocket? That’s the question.

“He’s coming to this side of the Atlantic, that’s for sure. The question is where.

Personally, I’d be tempted to bring him to Montreal as reinforcement. It’s not like he doesn’t know the environment-he played 12 games there at the start of the season.”

The question Kent Hughes needs to ask is this.. Would Kapanen be more useful to the Canadiens than someone like Joshua Roy or Michael Pezzetta?

It’s an idea that’s gaining more and more traction.

Yes, the Canadiens really need to consider bringing him back to Montreal..

Kapanen, 21 years old, 6-foot-2 and 194 pounds, was a second-round pick by the Montreal Canadiens in 2021.

He collected 35 points in 36 games this season in the SHL, including 15 goals, along with three points in five playoff games.

This season with the Montreal Canadiens, in 12 games at the beginning of the season, he recorded 2 points.

Details to follow.
