We were all eagerly waiting for news about Montreal Canadiens forward Patrik Laine.

Now we have it.

Some believed that this serious injury might mean the end of his career, but we can now forget about that…

Earlier today, the Canadiens announced that Laine underwent surgery to repair a core muscle injury and will miss three to four months of activity.

“Forward Patrik Laine underwent surgery to repair a core muscle injury. The procedure was performed by Dr. Mark Zoland at Lennox Hill Hospital in New York. Laine’s recovery period is estimated to be three to four months.”

Laine has now broken his silence and made it clear (via social media) that he intends to come back – and come back stronger than ever!

What a great display of character from Laine!

Patrik Laine breaks the silence following the announcement of his injury

A few hours after the unfortunate announcement about his abdominal wall surgery (sports hernia), he simply responded with a quote from Muhammad Ali that speaks volumes:

“You don’t lose if you get knocked down.
You lose if you stay down.” – Muhammad Ali

And clearly, Laine has absolutely no intention of staying down!

He plans to get back up, get to work, and return to help his team.

Patrik Laine, 27 years old, earning $8.7 million per year for one more season (this one), had a very disappointing start to the season – especially with this injury and surgery.

In five games this season, he has 0 goals and 1 assist, with a minus-3 rating… and let’s just say it’ll be a while before he can improve those stats.
