eason 34 “Dancing With the Stars” competitor Robert Irwin knows what he wants when it comes to a relationship and it’s super sweet. While talking with People for their cover story on the Irwin family, Robert opened up about his thoughts on an ideal romantic partnership.

First, he mentioned his mom, Terri Irwin, saying, “She is just the most brave, steadfast, determined human being I’ve ever met.”

“And to me, she is just the epitome of a great leader, a great mother, and just a hero to me because she had this life she created with dad [Steve Irwin] and just had the rug pulled out from under her, but she was able to move forward with such grace and still be there for my sister and I,” Robert added.

“So I look at my mom, I look at my dad and I’m like, that’s it,” he continued. “That’s who I want to be. That’s a perfect relationship.”

Robert is Australian just like his father was and the same goes for his older sister, Bindi Irwin. However, both Steve and Bindi met their significant others in a specific way — and it involved Americans on the move.

“My mom and dad met when she was this American tourist coming over to Australia,” Robert told People. Noting a coincidental fact, he added, “and that’s also how my sister met her husband.”

“I’ve been saying, when is that going to happen for me?!” he asked while laughing.

Indeed, in April, he told People, “I’m single. It’s funny, I’m at this point in my life where I’m like, I’m so open to that, but I’m just waiting for the stars to align.”

Robert may, in fact, meet someone special just like his dad and sister. That’s thanks to the fact that plenty of Americans have been swooning over the “Dancing With the Stars” season 34 competitor ever since he posed for a Bonds Australia underwear ad back in April.

Frankly, Robert joked that the ad campaign contributed to more people from the United States heading over to his home country and stopping by Australia Zoo, where he works with his family. He told People, “Oh yeah, it was very funny… it ended up creating, well let’s just say the visitation at the zoo was really good and it was a lot of Americans. It was great.”

Going back to his own romantic life and the possibility of meeting someone, he noted, “I’m still waiting for it. That American tourist is not quite lined up.”
