A major new rumor has just surfaced in the NHL, and it involves the Montreal Canadiens and the Calgary Flames.

I know you’re probably starting to feel like a lot of players-especially centers-are being linked to the Canadiens via trade talk, but at the end of the day, we’re simply reporting what very credible insiders are saying.

This time, it’s Nick Kypreos from Sportsnet who has seriously linked Montreal to 70-point center Nazem Kadri.

“According to Nick Kypreos, Nazem Kadri continues to be linked to the Canadiens and the Maple Leafs, and he could be willing to waive his no-movement clause for either of those teams.

What do you think of Kadri as a number two center?”

The insider also adds that Kadri would be ready to give the green light to be traded to either Montreal or Toronto.

Nazem Kadri, the Ideal Second-Line Center Behind Nick Suzuki?

In any case, he really does seem interested in joining the Canadiens-and that would be a major addition, especially while waiting for the arrival of young Michael Hage.

In fact, the Montreal Canadiens and the Toronto Maple Leafs are reportedly the only two teams Kadri would agree to play for, which is huge for Kent Hughes and his negotiating leverage.

We’ll definitely be keeping a close eye on this for you.

Quietly, despite being 34 years old, Nazem Kadri recorded 67 points this season and 75 points in 2023-2024, so his $7 million per year contract (valid through 2029) is absolutely worth it.

And what about you-would you see Kadri as the next second-line center for the Montreal Canadiens?
