We have a change to report, confirmed by the National Hockey League after the game, involving a goal scored by the Montreal Canadiens.

This is always important to know, especially for “poolers,” but please note that an assist has been added to none other than Nick Suzuki.

This is what can be found in the official game recap release on the NHL’s official website.

It hasn’t even shown up on all the stats sites yet, but it will soon.

An assist for Nick Suzuki on Jake Evans’ empty-net goal

It caps off a great night for the captain, who also scored a huge goal himself.

What a moment!

I’ve probably watched that video 500 times already and I’m still not tired of it.

Back to this additional assist for Suzuki, this highlights an interesting and brilliant strategy used by Martin St-Louis late in the game: sending both Evans AND Suzuki (at the same time) onto the ice.. for what was clearly the most important faceoff of the Montreal Canadiens’ season.

You could say the strategy worked.

“The NHL adds an assist to Nick Suzuki on the goal scored by Jake Evans.”

What a job by Suzuki, and what a job by Evans on that faceoff, which ultimately led to the insurance goal for Martin St-Louis’ squad.

Let’s say it again, The Montreal Canadiens are in the playoffs!
