Clearly, Florian Xhekaj’s name is generating a lot of buzz with the Laval Rocket right now.

After strong reviews from other coaches and GMs:

It was now the turn of one of his Laval Rocket teammates, Alex Barré-Boulet, who is also a former Tampa Bay Lightning player, to praise the younger Xhekaj.

Florian Xhekaj Is Much More Than Just Toughness, Says Alex Barré-Boulet

What an excellent acquisition Florian Xhekaj is turning out to be for the Montreal Canadiens organization.

In an interview on TVA Sports with host Jean-Charles Lajoie, Barré-Boulet had this to say:

“Flo isn’t just a physical presence, he’s an excellent hockey player. He scored 20 goals in his first year,” explained Barré-Boulet, in an interview on JiC.

“Not every rookie is capable of doing that while racking up almost 200 penalty minutes.”

“I think people in Montreal will be pleasantly surprised by his hockey skills, not just his toughness,” he added.

These are once again very interesting and encouraging comments!

Without a doubt, Florian Xhekaj’s hockey IQ keeps coming up when people talk about him.

I can’t wait to see him at training camp next fall!

Florian Xhekaj, 20 years old, has shown rapid development since being selected in the 4th round of the 2023 NHL Draft by the Montreal Canadiens.

He went from recording 25 points in 68 games in the OHL to 65 points in 63 games in the OHL (34 goals), and now he has scored 24 goals in 69 games this season with the Laval Rocket in the American Hockey League.

Do you believe he can surprise everyone and earn a spot in the Montreal Canadiens lineup as early as next season?
