The Los Angeles Dodgers, a team synonymous with ambition and star power, find themselves at a critical juncture as the 2025 MLB season unfolds. With the World Series once again in their sights, the Dodgers’ relentless pursuit of excellence has led to constant scrutiny of every player on their roster. As expectations soar, even established veterans are not immune to the pressures of performance, and the front office remains vigilant in its quest to address any weaknesses that could threaten their championship aspirations.

Recent developments have cast a spotlight on Max Muncy, whose struggles at the plate have become a growing concern for both fans and management alike. While Muncy’s past heroics have endeared him to the Dodger faithful, his current slump has fueled speculation about his future with the team.

In a franchise known for bold moves and blockbuster trades, whispers of potential replacements have begun to circulate, hinting at the possibility of a seismic shift in the Dodgers’ infield. With rumors swirling and the stakes higher than ever, the Dodgers must make crucial decisions that could shape the course of their season—and possibly their legacy.

The Los Angeles Dodgers are ready to have another run at the World Series. Despite their talented and star-studded roster, a few loopholes remain to be filled. The franchise has worked in a creative way to bring top sluggers to LA, and the latest rumors suggest a new slugger that could be the perfect replacement for Max Muncy.

Muncy’s 2025 MLB season has been disastrous after a miserable start. In 73 at-bats, the slugger has no home runs and only four RBIs. Muncy’s batting average has dipped to .178, while his OBP is at .282, and his OPS is slumping to .529. It’s time for Muncy to pick up the pace, or he could soon be DFA’d or even worse.

The Dodgers wouldn’t hesitate to trade Muncy if he continues to struggle, but that would be the end for the veteran slugger. Muncy mentioned that he might retire if he does not have a spot in Dodger blue. It’s hard to see a player like Muncy struggle, but performance matters at the end of the day.

Dodgers Are Linked To Nolan Arenado As A Replacement For Max Muncy

Recently, rumors have suggested that Nolan Arenado will still be traded before the deadline. The Cardinals want to trade Arenado, and he will be glad to hop on to LA if the opportunity arises. MLB insider Bob Nightengale thinks that Arenado will move, and if things go wrong with Muncy, the Dodgers will be the ideal destination.

“The Cardinals still want to move him. I do think that Arenado will get moved at some point. If something ever happened to  Muncy or something like that, Arenado would do cartwheels to get to L.A., his hometown. He could have gone to Houston, turned that down. Could have gone to the Angels, turned that down, too. But he would jump up and down to have a chance to go to the Dodgers. But the Dodgers don’t need him with Muncy, and he still has some good money left on his contract,” Nightengale said.

Dave Robers and his squad want to win. They will not hold onto struggling players after spending more than a billion dollars to build a super team. That said, Arenado will be the perfect option for LA. However, it will take time for things to turn around. Dodgers fans have expressed frustration with Muncy’s performance lately.
