Married At First Sight star Katie Johnston has revealed her incredible body transformation after losing almost 30kg in just 12 weeks.

The 37-year-old says it all began with a frightening health diagnosis.

A DEXA scan showed she had a dangerous amount of visceral fat – the kind that wraps around internal organs and is linked to heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes and certain cancers.

‘I wasn’t chasing a goal weight – I was running from an early death,’ Katie told Daily Mail.

The shock result came when she weighed 108kg.

She had previously tried weight loss medication in mid-2024 at 112kg but stopped after suffering extreme fatigue and nausea. Her weight then plateaued during filming for MAFS.

In April this year, Katie decided to try again.

This time, she combined the medication with a world-first smart protein shake called glo_up_1 by Nuut.

It was designed to reduce the side effects of weight loss drugs and help her stay strong.

‘Protein is the only macronutrient your body doesn’t store, so if you don’t consume enough, you lose muscle instead of fat. That’s why glo_up_1 was such a game changer. I stayed strong and alert the whole time,’ she said.

Her results were dramatic.

In just three months, she dropped four dress sizes, reduced her visceral fat to safe levels and now weighs 83.8kg.

‘I only ever intended to use it to get my visceral fat into a healthy range and save my life. Now that I’m there, I want to see if I can maintain it without medication,’ she said.

Dr Zac Turner, who oversaw Katie’s transformation, said: ‘Katie is now healthy where it counts. When she first came to see us, her visceral fat levels were dangerously high. She’s now sitting at 80.4cm, which is well below the high-risk threshold of 100cm. That result alone is a massive win.’

The benefits have gone far beyond weight loss.

‘I’m stronger. My back pain is gone. I sleep through the night. I can hike a mountain without stopping 20 times. And I’ve got my zest for adventure back,’ Katie said.

Katie now plans to write a book about her journey and speak publicly about the link between trauma, body image and health.

‘If you’re struggling to find momentum, inspiration or even hope, you’re not alone, and you’re not broken. I’ve got your back. Take the pressure off and approach the process with self-love,’ she said.

She thanked her team – Nuut, trainer Dave, nutritionist Mandy Sacher and Dr Zac – but said the biggest thanks goes to herself.

‘But mostly, I want to thank myself. For finally letting love in and trusting the process. I saved my own life. I am my own hero.’
