In the ever-evolving landscape of NHL trade rumors, some names quietly rise to the surface and capture the attention of fans and insiders alike.

While much of the recent spotlight has been on Yegor Chinakhov’s trade request, a new and intriguing storyline has emerged out of Columbus—one that could have significant implications across the league. Dmitri Voronkov, a physically imposing forward with a growing reputation, has suddenly become a central figure in serious trade discussions.

As reports continue to surface about Columbus’s aggressive pursuit of top talent, it’s clear that Voronkov’s availability could reshape the market for teams seeking size, skill, and versatility up front.

With his recent performances turning heads and his name now linked to high-profile trade offers, the hockey world is beginning to realize that Voronkov might be one of the most compelling players to watch as the offseason drama unfolds.

Just recently, we told you about young Columbus Blue Jackets forward Yegor Chinakhov, who has requested a trade.

As journalist Aaron Portzline points out, he’s not the first promising young forward who may be on his way out of Columbus.

The rumor had circulated around the 2025 Draft, but it’s now confirmed.

The towering 6-foot-5 forward Dmitri Voronkov was also involved in serious trade discussions between the Blue Jackets and the New York Islanders.

The Blue Jackets included the big forward Dmitri Voronkov in a trade offer to beat the Montreal Canadiens’ bid for Noah Dobson

If Voronkov was used in an attempt to outbid the Canadiens for Noah Dobson, that confirms he’s definitely available on the trade market in Columbus.

While everyone is focused on Chinakhov, personally, I think Voronkov would be a much more intriguing acquisition.

Elliotte Friedman: “Columbus made a really good offer for Noah Dobson; it included Voronkov; Dobson wanted to go to Montreal; he preferred the Eastern Conference so some teams like St. Louis were told they were out”

So he’s definitely another name to watch.

“Friedman on 32TP says Noah Dobson wanted to go to Montreal, Columbus is rumoured to have offered a better package to the Islanders, believes Dmitri Voronkov was in the deal and they were going to give Dobson a higher AAV.”

Voronkov, 24 years old, is indeed a big forward who can easily play center. He stands 6 feet 5 inches tall and weighs 227 pounds.

A 4th-round pick by the Columbus Blue Jackets in 2019, he recorded nearly 50 points (47) in 73 NHL games this past season.

He’s definitely a name to remember.
