The longtime host has revealed what he really thinks about this year’s cast.

Since the show’s revival in 2010, Scott Cam has encountered numerous controversial contestants on The Block. Whether they take part in a cheating scandal, clash with their co-stars, or go against the advice of Foreman Dan, there’s typically at least one team each season that isn’t afraid to stir the pot.
Ahead of the season 21 premiere this Sunday, Scotty has shared an insight into what fans can expect from the 2025 cast. The TV host declared at a launch event in Daylesford on Friday that this year’s “fantastic” contestants are the best he’s ever seen on the Channel 9 series.
“They’ve been, in my view, the best teams that we’ve ever had on The Block,” he said. “That’s not to say that they’re not a punish at times. It’s not to say that they argue and fight with each other and other teams. It’s not to say that they don’t cause drama and they’re annoying. That’s as good as it gets! It could be a lot worse, let me tell you.”
Who are the teams on The Block 2025?
The season 21 cast includes Team Orange’s Han and Can from Western Australia, Team Blue’s Em and Ben from Victoria, Team Green’s Robby and Mat from South Australia, Team Red’s Britt and Taz from Western Australia, and Team Yellow’s Sonny and Alicia from Queensland.
This year marks the first time The Block won’t feature any contestants from New South Wales, which is particularly interesting as a Sydney-based team has won the last four seasons.

The Block 2025 to celebrate major milestone
In addition to being promoted as “the happiest Block on earth”, this year’s season will celebrate the show’s 1,000th episode. This makes it the third Australian reality series to reach this milestone after Big Brother and MasterChef.
Shelley shared at the launch event that it’s “quite extraordinary” for a reality show to reach the milestone, and they have a “special episode lined up”.
Meanwhile, Scott Cam seemingly confirmed that he will return to host The Block next year to celebrate his 1,000th episode as Jamie Durie hosted the first two seasons.
“I didn’t do the first two series, which were 13 eps each, so I’m about 20 short of a thousand. But I’m going to get there next year, and I’ll be celebrating just quietly within myself,” he said.
“It’s amazing, and longevity in today’s market and today’s climate on television with Netflix and all those sort of things that are floating around, it’s an amazing achievement for all of our team, for our network and the support that we get, and our EPs who put together a show that’s forever evolving to create that interest to get us to a thousand episodes and beyond.”
