The MAFS expert spoke to Cosmopolitan UK while on the BAFTA TV red carpet
The queen of Married at First Sight Australia expert Mel Schilling has spoken out about season 12’s Jacqui and Clint’s unexpected relationship, and crucially revealed if she’ll be attending their upcoming nuptials.
While speaking to Cosmopolitan UK on the red carpet at the BAFTA TV awards yesterday (11 May), Mel revealed Jacqui and Clint were the pairing who surprised her most, when asked which couple had shocked her this season.
“Well I gotta say there’s definitely a surprise with Clint and Jacqui getting together,” she said. “I did not see that coming. I mean whenever there’s a surprise late coupling, it throws us, we didn’t plan for that but I love it. Whichever form love comes in, I’m here for it.”
Jacqui and Clint were originally on the recent series of Married at First Sight Australia in different relationships. Jacqui with Ryan, whom she stayed with until final vows, and Clint was brought in later into the series to marry Lauren, who was originally paired with Eliot.
Clint and Lauren’s relationship started off well but ultimately there wasn’t a love match between them and they ended up leaving halfway through the experiment.
While Jacqui and Ryan stayed until the end of the series, their relationship was full of drama, with lots of ups and downs. During their final vows, Jacqui revealed not only did she not want to stay with Ryan, but that actually she had gotten together with Clint, who was seen picking her up from her final vows.
The couple then showed up together to the reunion episodes and most recently have announced their engagement following whirlwind romance.
So will Mel and the rest of the experts John Aiken and Alessandra Rampolla get an invite to the ceremony? Mel isn’t so sure.
“Based on what’s been happening on social media lately, I’d say probably not, and I’m fine with that,” Mel explained when asked by Cosmopolitan UK if she’d be invited to the wedding.
Recently on Jacqui’s TikTok, she’s been less than complimentary about MAFS Australia, and said she and Clint wanted to “put that chapter” behind them before getting onto wedding planning. So yeah looks like we won’t be seeing Mel and co at the wedding.
However, we will thankfully be seeing Mel again on our TV screens very soon as she will be appearing on the next season of Married at First Sight UK, which is currently being filmed.
When asked how Mel would describe the upcoming season she said: “authentic, relatable and surprising.”
We can’t wait!
