Just as this year’s season of Farmer Wants A Wife approaches its end, Channel 7 has confirmed that the reality show will be returning in 2026 with applications now open. The show’s official social media accounts shared the news on Thursday, encouraging single farmers from across Australia to apply online.

Fans would be excited to know that the series is looking for both male and female farmers for the show’s upcoming sixteenth season. Farmer Wants A Wife has only featured a handful of female farmers in the past: Jenny Blake from season 3, Becky Casanova from season 5, Melia Brent-White from season 6, and Paige Marsh from season 12.

Applicants must be 21 years of age or older to apply, and are required to disclose whether they have any current or prior criminal charges. They also have to be available to film from early October 2025 to mid-December 2025, with the reunion taking place over three days in January 2026.

“CALLING ALL SINGLE FARMERS. It’s your turn to fall in love on the most successful dating show in Australia,” the social media post reads.

Fans have since taken to social media to share their requests for next year’s season of Farmer Wants A Wife, with many people agreeing that they would love to see female farmers on the show.

“Get some female farmers in between 30 and 50 so I can apply. I know they’re out there,” one man commented, followed by someone else who said, “Can we have a female farmer again please!”.

“Female Farmers next please,” another requested.

Others requested that the show cast more mature participants in 2026, and said they hope the new season isn’t as “boring” as this year’s.

“How about getting some more older farmers into the show – I mean farmers who are between 30 and 50 years old and have grown out of that playboy phase, and older women who are more mature and far less catty,” one person wrote.

“Older farmers would be lovely to see,” another added, while a third agreed, “Yes, it’s a bit hard to believe that a 22-year-old is really looking for a wife!”.

“Ones with a personality would be great,” a different user remarked, with someone else commenting, “God I hope it’s better than this year”.

“Please producers let 2026 episodes be less of a train wreck than this season. Go back to the original format,” another demanded.
