The Montreal Canadiens are once again at the center of the NHL rumor mill, and this time, the buzz surrounds a potential blockbuster move that could shake up their lineup in a big way.

With speculation swirling and insiders weighing in, the possibility of Nazem Kadri donning a Canadiens jersey has ignited excitement and debate among fans and analysts alike.

The veteran centerman, known for his scoring touch and fiery competitiveness, is reportedly open to joining Montreal, and the proposed terms of the deal are raising eyebrows across the league.

As the Flames look to shed Kadri’s hefty contract, the Canadiens appear poised to capitalize on a rare opportunity—one that could see them land a proven top-six forward for a shockingly low price. With Kadri’s impressive track record and the flexibility he would bring to Montreal’s center depth, the stakes couldn’t be higher as the team considers its next move.

On BPM Sports radio, a concrete return was finally proposed if the Montreal Canadiens want to acquire centerman Nazem Kadri.

The least we can say is that it would be a bargain, and some very solid arguments are being made here.

First, as we reported earlier this week, Kadri is willing to waive his no-move clause to join the Canadiens.

“The Flames want to get rid of Kadri’s contract right now, and the Canadiens would benefit from slotting Kadri on the second line.

If Kirby Dach isn’t part of the trade – which is really not out of the question – then you place him as the third-line center, and now you’re really in business. Now it starts to make sense!

35 goals on a team that missed the playoffs, a team that isn’t offense-oriented..

And if the Flames want us to absorb Kadri’s entire contract, all $7 million, then it won’t cost anything.”

Nazem Kadri acquired for free by Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens?

As they also mentioned on BPM Sports, the four years remaining on the contract are an obstacle, but at the same time, if it doesn’t work out in two or three years, the buyout penalty wouldn’t be that bad.

And you – would you do it if what the Canadiens give up for Kadri is.. just future considerations?

Nazem Kadri, 34 years old, is a 6-foot, 185-pound centerman who was drafted 7th overall by the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2009.

He has 710 points in 985 career NHL games, including 307 goals, and he notably put up 67 and 75 points over the past two seasons (both full 82-game seasons).

His best season came in 2021-22, when he tallied 87 points in 71 games with the Colorado Avalanche, including 28 goals – a pace of 100 points over 82 games.

He could truly be a solid second-line center behind Nick Suzuki.
