Something is brewing in the heart of Montreal, and it’s sending shockwaves through the hockey world. Rumors swirl, whispers grow louder, and suddenly, a familiar name is back at the center of it all—Sidney Crosby. For years, fans have dreamed of seeing the legendary “Sid the Kid” in a Canadiens jersey, but this time, the speculation feels different. This time, something concrete has shifted beneath the surface.

A respected insider has spoken. A close friendship is revealed. Unexpected connections are coming to light, and the city is holding its breath. As new details emerge, the possibility of Crosby joining the Montreal Canadiens is transforming from a distant fantasy into a headline-making reality. But what exactly has changed? Who is pulling the strings behind the scenes? And why are so many voices—from media to former athletes—suddenly so certain that the impossible might be within reach?

With the season underway and the stakes higher than ever, one comment has ignited a wave of hope across Quebec. The answers lie in the bonds between players, the shifting dynamics in Pittsburgh, and a series of revelations that no one saw coming. The Crosby saga is back—and this time, you’ll want to read every word.

Speculation about Sidney Crosby joining the Montreal Canadiens is rising again, as Renaud Lavoie reveals his close bond with Mike Matheson-changing everything.

I know, I know… The Crosby saga again.

However, this time, we really have something concrete! What once seemed like just a «die-hard fans» dream is becoming more realistic.

Why? Well, because this time, the comments come directly from Renaud Lavoie, on TVA Sports, and they’ve created a wave of hope across Montreal and Quebec!

It seems that in Montreal, another name is playing an important role in this story – Mike Matheson.

Even the well-known Arnaud Gascon-Nadon gave his opinion:

“Sid the kid has to come play in Montreal…

It’s over after that. We close the books.

I’m completely excited…

I can’t believe it”

– Arnaud Gascon-Nadon

Mike Matheson and Sidney Crosby – a friendship that could change everything for the Montreal Canadiens

As Matheson continues his strong performances with the Canadiens (22:50 of average ice time, 4 points in 5 games), he’s establishing himself not only as a key defensive player but also as an unexpected link to Pittsburgh Penguins superstar Sidney Crosby.

During his appearance on JiC, Renaud Lavoie confirmed the closeness between the two players:

“‘We eat together, we text each other, we talk on the phone. They are very good friends,’ he said during the daily JiC on Wednesday.”

However, what really made the rumor explode was the next part of his statement:

“‘It’s certain that it’s going to happen,’ Lavoie continued. ‘We just need Sidney [Crosby] to say yes.’”

That says a lot! And if TVA Sports allows itself to report such a statement, there might be some truth behind all of this.

Even with a solid start to the season in Pittsburgh (3-2-0), the situation is becoming clearer. It’s only a matter of time before the Penguins collapse and Kyle Dubas quietly starts preparing a rebuild.

As for Crosby, 38 years old, he might be looking for one last challenge elsewhere – in an environment that could give him back the energy to chase a fourth Stanley Cup.

With Montreal’s young team and hot start to the season, anything can happen!

And I truly think Montreal checks many boxes: a young, rebuilding team, a tight and passionate locker room… and now, a close friend already waiting for him.
