Big news is brewing in Montreal, and this time it’s not about a blockbuster trade or a superstar signing. Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens have just pulled off a move that few saw coming—one that could quietly reshape the team’s future behind the scenes.

While the Habs’ coaching staff was already considered complete, especially following a key departure earlier this year, a surprising new addition has just been confirmed. The announcement, made official by Hughes himself, is causing a stir among insiders and fans alike, and for good reason.

This isn’t just any hire—it’s a move that taps directly into Quebec’s rich hockey tradition, bringing fresh energy and local expertise to the Canadiens’ bench.

The new recruit comes straight from one of the most respected organizations in junior hockey, bringing with him an impressive track record and a reputation for innovation.

But who is this mysterious figure joining the storied franchise? And what exactly will his role be as the Canadiens gear up for their highly anticipated 2025 training camp?

As rumors swirl and excitement builds, we take a closer look at the man behind the headlines, the journey that brought him to Montreal, and what this strategic appointment could mean for the team’s future.

We do indeed have a hiring to announce, a hiring confirmed by Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens.

We know that the Habs already had a fairly complete coaching staff, even after the departure announced by Alex Burrows several months ago.

That said, an interesting addition has just been made to this coaching staff in Montreal, an addition coming from the Chicoutimi Saguenéens (QMJHL).

And it’s a Quebecer, no less, who has just joined the team.

Enrick Corneau is joining the Montreal Canadiens as a video coach!

See the official press release.

After 2 seasons with the Saguenéens, Enrick Corneau moves up to the Montreal Canadiens.

We would also like to congratulate Enrick Corneau for this great promotion and for this new challenge.

Here’s an excerpt from the Saguenéens’ official press release.

“Saguenay, Monday, August 11 – The Chicoutimi Saguenéens announce that Enrick Corneau will be leaving his position with the team to join the Montreal Canadiens hockey staff as a video coach. He has signed a two-year contract with the Canadiens.”

For a Quebecer, passionate about hockey, it must really be something to become a member of the Montreal Canadiens’ coaching staff.

Personally, I love that we turned to local talent to fill this position, and I’m convinced that Corneau will do an outstanding job for the Habs.

Let’s not forget that the Montreal Canadiens’ 2025 training camp will kick off in just over a month. We can’t wait for it to begin!

More details to come.
