The Block’s Foreman Dan was left fuming in Tuesday night’s episode when he caught Britt and Taz’s plasterer doing the wrong thing in House 3. However, viewers are divided on whether the drama was staged solely for the cameras.

Taz and his team failed an inspection because they forgot to insulate the skylight shaft in their main bedroom, and they had to pull down the ceiling batts. But when Dan caught their team in the ceiling, doing the work in an unsafe way from above, he told the cameras that the site could have been shut down for breaking such a crucial rule.

“We can’t have that, that’s just not safe on-site. If he had fallen, he would have hit the ceiling grid and then fallen through that,” Dan said.

“The site could’ve been shut down, the whole Block could’ve been shut down,” he added. “They know it was wrong, they were trying to get it done quickly, it’s a Block rule, it has been for a long time.”

Their plasterer then had a major clash with Deano, the safety officer, and then walked off-site.

“This is a f***ing joke,” he said as he stormed off.

Taz managed to get him back after telling him, “A day of you leaving will kill us.”

Fans were quick to react to the moment, with one viewer writing on social media, “Dan and this blowup is completely bogus! I do HVAC [Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning] and you always climb through ceiling spaces! Not only that, why couldn’t they start the walls earlier? Plaster the walls while the skylight gets fixed! Grinds my gears how fake this is becoming.”

“Next room over and the aircon guy is in the roof doing the same thing,” another said.

“God forbid trying to get job done what a joke this show is,” a third wrote.

“As long as they have the required permits, who cares?” someone else questioned. “I swear some of the ‘site rules’ trades are expected to follow on this show are completely arbitrary and almost feel like an excuse to slow specific teams down week to week.”

“But in previous years it’s OK to work 18 hours,” one viewer added.

Others were on Dan’s side, with one viewer writing, “Good on you, Dan!”

“You tell ’em, Dan,” another said.

“Dan is doing his job properly!” a third added.
