The 65th Annual TV Week Logie Awards are fast approaching, with Australia’s most popular television personalities set to walk the red carpet at The Star Sydney on Sunday, August 3. While viewers can tune into the awards show on Channel 7, two of this year’s nominees have shared an insight into what it’s like being in the live studio audience.

Travel Guides stars Karly Fisher and Bri Auty, who are hoping their show wins Best Lifestyle Program for the fourth year in a row, tell Yahoo Lifestyle that viewers might not realise how long the entire event goes for. The celebrities begin walking the red carpet from 3:30pm, which doesn’t air until 7pm on TV, and the ceremony itself typically ends around midnight.

“Jesus, it goes for hours,” Karly remarks. “Look, I’m so honoured to be there, but oh my god, it goes for so long. I was hungry by the end of it.”

Bri explains that after walking the red carpet, the guests enter the venue at 5pm and sit down at their tables for dinner before the show starts at 7:30pm.

“I think we’re category eight as well, so we’re not at the beginning, but we’re not at the very end. We’re kind of in the middle,” she says. “So you’re trying to go to the toilet in between and you’re trying to rush back, because you don’t want to miss it.”

“I honestly just could not believe how long it went for,” Karly adds. “I was like, it does not go for this long on TV. We were in the room for like, three or four hours, the actual ceremony.”

Karly and Bri, who previously starred on Beauty and the Geek in 2022, compare the three-course dinner at last year’s Logies to “delicious wedding food”.

“Last year, I had gold-encrusted lamb. [Bri] had fish, which then I think I ate as well,” Karly recalls. “And then there was dessert. I’ve actually got a video of me eating them all. I did a kind of mukbang on my phone, eating all these desserts. They were stunning.

“There was a lava cake, but not a Domino’s lava cake. It was like a proper, bougie lava cake. I will say the food was what I was probably most looking forward to, and it did not disappoint. It was so yummy.”

Arguably, the two biggest events in the Australian entertainment industry are the Logies, which celebrate achievements in television, and the ARIAs, which honour achievements in music.

The Voice coach Kate Miller-Heidke tells Yahoo Lifestyle that despite only attending the Logies twice in her expansive career, she prefers them to the ARIAs.

“For me, it’s way more fun than the ARIAs. Maybe that’s just because I’m like a stranger in a strange land,” she laughs. “There’s such a wide variety of people. The ARIAs is full of musicians, and musicians look each other up and down and make judgments, whereas writers and actors, they’re just a different breed and they’re different to me, so I love talking to them.”

Kate, who is nominated for Most Popular New Talent, admits she feels “absolutely flattered” to have received her first Logies nomination this year.

“Having first been on TV singing probably 20 years ago, and to be nominated for Best New Talent, I just feel really lucky to have gotten to have such an interesting and varied career, and to be able to be dipping my toe into the world of television now at this stage, it’s amazing to be welcomed into that new world,” she remarks.

The 2025 Logie Awards will take place on Sunday, August 3, airing on Channel 7 and 7plus. The red carpet will kick off at 7pm, followed by the awards show at 7:30pm.

Voting is now open for all awards and will remain open until 7pm AEST, Friday, August 1.

The Most Popular Presenter, Most Popular New Talent, and Most Popular News or Public Affairs Reporter categories will close 7:30pm AEST, Sunday, August 3, and the Gold Logie votes will stay open until 10:30pm AEST on the same day
