Sidney Crosby’s future may be outside of Pittsburgh, and if that’s the case, Canadiens GM Kent Hughes has an offer ready, according to reporter Alexandre Gascon.

Sidney Crosby’s future in the National Hockey League has been the source of much speculation in recent times, with Insider Nick Kypreos sharing his thoughts that after the Olympics in 2026, anything could happen with Crosby.

While Crosby has continued to shut the rumours down, with the Penguins not set to compete for the Stanley Cup, these will continue, and if they do, there’s one team that is ready to pounce.

On his latest appearance on The Sheet with Jeff Marek, ESPN’s Greg Wyshynski had this to say about Crosby;

“I’ve long believed that Sidney Crosby will end his career in Montreal.

If he’s gonna go anywhere & he’s gonna try to do something spectacular, being part of the legacy & lineage of the Montreal Canadiens. Being part of a team that’s got upward trajectory & have a good chance, maybe (win) a late career championship with a team that hasn’t won since 1993. A team he clearly has a lot of affinity for. I always assumed if it wasn’t Pittsburgh, it would be Montreal.”

With the way Montreal have built their young team, there’s no doubt that Crosby would be thrilled to join this rising group, and if he ever does truly become available, Alexandre Gascon with Radio-Canada has had this to say;

“If ever Sidney Crosby decides he’s ready to leave Pittsburgh and Montreal is one of the destinations on his list, I know that Kent Hughes would be ready to make an offer.

I believe Canadiens management has already thought this through and knows what they would be willing to offer.”

According to Gascon, Canadiens GM Kent Hughes already has an offer and what he would pay for Crosby ready, so if the moment does come when Kyle Dubas agrees to move the long-time Penguins captain, the team can pounce.

This ultimately may be for nothing, as it appears right now that Crosby is happy riding things out in Pittsburgh, but with the chance to win a fourth Stanley Cup elsewhere, the speculation just won’t go away.
