Married At First Sight Australia is gearing up for a return next year, and it’s set to be the most explosive season yet. Producers are introducing a same-$∈✘ couple and three new weddings, all with strict instructions to ramp up the drama.

Adelaide fitness model Sam Stanton and Sydney personal trainer Chris Robinson are the latest intruders to join the experiment, having tied the knot in Sydney on Tuesday.

They’ll be accompanied by two other fresh couples, who have been strategically cast mid-season to stir things up after several participants either quit or were dismissed.

“They were told from the outset that they need to generate drama and keep it going,” one source claimed to Mail Online. “Even if they don’t click romantically, they’ve been asked to stick it out until the end of filming. Producers don’t want another scenario where intruders leave after three days – they’re after fireworks.”

The previous season saw all three intruder couples dramatically exit before Final Vows, reportedly leaving producers seething.

“This year, they’ve made it crystal clear: no one leaves early. Regardless, the intruders need to make their presence felt,” the source added.

According to So Sydney, Sam, who stands at 188cm tall and is recognised for his work as a model and coach, is already a known face on social media, although his verified Instagram @sammystants has been switched to private in line with Nine’s stringent rules.

Chris, meanwhile, operates boutique fitness enterprise Body Skin Soul in Sydney and has earned recognition as one of the city’s leading personal trainers.

Boasting over ten years’ experience in the field, his ethos of enabling clients to ‘look and feel their best’ could prove crucial when facing the pressures of the social experiment.

This marks another attempt by MAFS to feature a same-$∈✘ pairing – though previous couples haven’t managed to stay together. Back in 2016, Craig Roach and Andy John called it quits within a matter of weeks.

In 2020, Amanda Micallef and Tash Herz broke new ground as the programme’s inaugural lesbian partnership, yet their romance rapidly deteriorated. Michael and Stephen, who entered the experiment at a later stage, managed just two commitment ceremonies before parting ways.

Relationship expert Mel Schilling has openly acknowledged that the show ‘got it horribly wrong’ during its initial efforts.

“It was really important to find people who genuinely wanted to find love. We didn’t want to simply match people based on $∈✘ual orientation,” she explained to Metro.
