Throughout this year’s season of The Block, viewers have seen Foreman Dan clash with House 2’s Han and Can on several occasions. This time, however, he managed to catch them in a lie thanks to security footage, with fans calling for them to be suspended from the competition.

The Block has clear rules regarding the cleaning and disposal of paint – it must be done in a designated wash space, which is located further off-site. Rather than follow the rules set for all contestants, the girls decided to take the easy way out and do it in front of their house.

After seeing them clearly going against the rules, he reminded them that they should be going to the wash bay. They then lied that the coloured water he could see was “plaster water”, adding that the tiler had just used the tap.

“I’ve just come up and seen the girls rinsing their buckets of paint up here, it hasn’t gone down a drain, they reckon they didn’t do this puddle, they reckon that was a plasterer or something,” Dan, clearly annoyed, told the cameras.

“We’ve got springs everywhere. We don’t want to be contaminating our soil near the springs,” he added. “We don’t want to do it anywhere, anyhow. I can only take their word and hope they’re not lying.”

However, after previously telling Han that he’d “lost trust” in them due to a lie on site, he decided to check the security cameras.

Upon reviewing the footage, he could clearly see Can cleaning her paint brushes and buckets, leaving the puddle they blamed on the tiler.

“Why lie? Why would you lie about it?” he questioned, before going to their house to call them out on it.

When he confronted them, Can’s response was simply, “Yeah”, while Han tried to continue the lie before realising Dan had looked at the footage.

“They’ve washed out paint on the ground, they’ve lied to me, and they’re not taking ownership,” he said.

“My bad, and I apologise,” Can told Dan.

“It’s the first time that I have been caught and told off, and it’ll be the last time,” Can later told the cameras.

Somehow, we don’t think this will be the last time…

The Block viewers call for Han and Can to be ‘suspended’ after they were caught lying

Viewers were unimpressed by the couple’s lying, with one person writing, “They really need a harsh penalty for this. It’s not just disrespecting The Block rules, but it’s disrespectful of the environment. Allowing paint water into the natural springs is pollution of the worst kind.”

They added, “Maybe fine them $20k out of their room budgets, and suspend them from judging and challenges for two weeks so they can’t just win the money back.”

“Agree. [They] just f**k around when they’ve explicitly been told something, lie, then get found out, say sorry,” another said. “There’s no actual consequence. I say they should lose a day with a substantial fine out of their room budgets. I find it so disrespectful how they lie to Dan as well. This isn’t the first time!”

“Yeah, I noticed how she said it was the first time she’d been caught doing the wrong thing and that wouldn’t happen again,” a third added. “Smirks from both of them. Pretty clear she was saying she wouldn’t be caught again, not that she wouldn’t do the wrong thing. I get that they are both young, but the immaturity from them is next level.”

“Honestly, I’d toss them to set an example, they have had so many of these things pop up, starting at the first week waterproofing,” wrote someone else. “Even if it is just a villain edit, you cannot be pouring paint water out like that, potentially causing contamination issues. I’m sick of them and their attitudes.”
