Sometimes when you need to get a job over the line, you call in the ‘big guns’ on The Block.
That’s something House 3’s Taz quickly learned when he desparately wanted to reduce the height of his island bench during Kitchen Week.
There was only one man in power who could convince Freedom to make the change in their design. Nope, it wasn’t Foreman Dan.
Let us re-introduce you to Aidan, The Block‘s official Site Manager, along with some other key players on site this year.
Aidan – Site Manager
Aidan is the builder in charge. (Nine)
Aidan is the director of Nine In Six builders, the official Block site builder and contractor for over a decade.
A.k.a the ‘big guns’ you need to call on to get a decision over the line.
During Kitchen Week, House 3’s Taz discovered his island bench was 30mm higher than his cooktop, which could spell disaster come Auction Day, at least in a multi-million dollar buyer’s eyes.
Freedom’s head honcho Bryce put his foot down on the change, which was more complicated than it seemed, but Aidan disagreed.
“It’s not his choice,” said Bryce talking to his team. “We’re not changing it.”
Bryce respectfully confronted Aiden: “Why is this a Nine In Six involvement?”
“Because it’s my building site and my building licence on it,” Aiden replied.
“The product that we’re delivering here is under my warranty, so everything that happens in there effects me.”
In the end, after a hand shake that goes on a little too long, Bryce agrees to drop it down.
What is the role of Nine In Six on The Block?
The Nine In Six team set up all the infrastructure, drainage and utilities on site before the Blockheads even get there.
This is on top of managing a community of trades, TV crew and contestants once they all arrive (that’s a lot of inductions!).
Aidan on The Block 2023. (Nine)
To sum it up, Aidan has previously explained to CSR that they take care of “the shell of the building” which the contestants and their trades fit out.
But not without a little help…
GMac – Site Supervisor
The “terrifying” GMac. (Nine)
GMac a.k.a ‘The Mac Daddy’ has quickly become the most feared man on The Block – if you ask House 5’s Mat!
He’s the strict rule enforcer and Site Supervisor on site, he’s also enderaingly known as the “head know-it-all” of Nine In Six.
Nothing can go ahead without sign-off from GMac, especially waterproofing.
In the words of House 4’s Sonny and Alicia: “He’s the maker or breaker, the man above Foreman Dan.”
“He’s such a lovely guy but when he comes on site he means business,” Mat described GMac’s dominating presence.
Dan Reilly – Foreman
Dan the man. (Nine)
Then we have Dan Reilly who’s back for his second year as solo foreman.
The Block All Star turned series regular returned as official site Foreman in 2025, taking on the key foreman responsibilities.
He’s already played the role of both good cop and bad cop this year, but his highest priority will always be the saftey of the teams and ensuring they deliver the highest quality build.
Returning Site Supervisor GMac has played a big role this year helping Dan with inspections, approvals and making sure everything is up to code.
Scott Cam and Shelley Craft – hosts
Scotty and Shelley keep spirits high and contestants in line. (Nine)
Scott Cam is back for his 19th season of The Block, and is joined again by Shelley Craft in her 18th season.
When Scotty’s not dishing out the judges’ scores during Room Reveals, he and Shelley check in on the contestants and their progress during their weekly walkarounds.
They’re both not afraid to say it how it is, or call out unnacceptable behaviour.
The judges
The judges could make or break each team’s success. (Nine)
While the contestants have buyers to impress, their creativity, unique design and styling skills will need to impress the three judges in the meantime – especially if they want to earn cash towards their house!
Shaynna Blaze has been a judge on The Block for 17 series and has loved every minute of it.
Real Estate guru Marty Fox is back for his third stint, bringing years of real estate experience to the judging process.
Darren Palmer is back for his 13th year judging on the show.
Julian Brenchley – architect
Julian Brenchley is the lead architect on The Block. (Nine)
A notable mention is long-time Block architect Julian Brenchley.
Julian has designed every Block residential project starting with the debut season in Bondi in 2003. So if there’s anyone who knows about what a Block house should look like, it’s him.
For the first time in the show’s history, the teams this year will build homes from scratch that are exactly the same in layout and size, once again designed by the master architect himself.
The contestants
The Block cast of 2025. (Nine)
On top of delivering a finished room each week, each year the contestants are responsible for hiring their own builders and trades and managing both the progress of their house and budget.
During rumpus room reveals in Week 6, Robby and Mat left the judges an apology note explaining their bare floor.
“Sorry this was out of our control :(,” wrote the boys, explaining the missing floorboards.
Judge Marty Fox questioned: “How, when you’re managing the project? It’s in your full control.”
Builders and tradies
Sonny and Alicia win over renowoned Block tilers, the Cursio brothers. (Nine)
Each house has a main building team that they trust with their project. If past series shows, it pays to have a great working relationship with your builder and tradies.
The builders work with the team at Nine In Six and other trades who each year, bring the Blockheads’ visions to life.
