With this year’s season of MasterChef Australia approaching the halfway point, fans have noticed a rather strange detail about the reality show. This season has been titled ‘Back to Win’, with 24 contestants from previous series returning for another chance to win the title.

While each contestant has been hailed as a fan favourite after making their mark in their original season, it’s clear that some have been receiving more screen time than others. One viewer recently took to Reddit to share that they have been keeping track of how many confessionals each competitor has received so far on the show.

Out of the remaining contestants, Ben Macdonald is leading the pack with a total of 56 confessionals in the first five weeks. He’s closely followed by Laura Sharrad on 50, Audra Morrice and Callum Hann on 48, and Snezana Calic on 44.

However, the person who has received the majority of confessionals overall this season is Rue Mupedzi, who was eliminated in Tuesday night’s episode.

“Rue got way more screen time, even after an episode, of all the remaining contestants,” one person commented, while another added, “I won’t be surprised if she remains in top 10 despite not even making it through halfway [of] the competition. Queen!”.

The season 15 fan favourite had a whopping 71 confessionals this season before being sent home, including 11 during the recent Pressure Test. This is compared to her competitors, Audra Morrice, who had 9, and Sarah Todd and Theo Loizou, who each had 7 in the same episode.

Rue’s constant on-screen presence is likely because she cooked in all but three episodes she appeared in this season, as well as the fact that she is a charismatic and likable personality. She’s also had some hilarious reactions and one-liners in her confessionals, which have been shared on the show’s official Instagram account.

On the other hand, Beau Cook currently has the least amount of confessionals at 14, with Samira El Khafir on 16 and Alana Lowes on 20. Pete Campbell didn’t appear in any confessionals this season as he exited the competition after two episodes due to being diagnosed with cancer.

Following her elimination in Tuesday night’s episode, Rue revealed to Yahoo Lifestyle that she plans on leaving her job as a dental hygienist to move overseas and work as a pastry chef.

“My vision board is to go to France and gain work experience in the pastry world for six months to a year, as well as explore Europe,” she shared. “When I come back, I’d love to establish myself in the local pastry scene.”

Having earned the title of ‘dessert queen’ during her time in the cooking competition, the Zimbabwe-born star says she would love to open a dessert bar or a patisserie in the future.
