The Block viewers have called out the show’s hosts, Scott Cam and Shelley Craft, after the pair decided who won the roast competition in Monday night’s episode, with many believing the runners-up should have been victorious. The episode saw all five teams go head-to-head in a comedy roast with $5,000 up for grabs, as well as an extra point and an outdoor fireplace worth $50,000.

Robby and Mat won the challenge; however, many fans argued that Sonny and Alicia were robbed of the win because the scoring system changed right after the crowd voted for them. Comedian Reuben Kaye hosted the night and forgot that Scott and Shelley were meant to be up on stage with him to help judge the teams, but not before he had already asked the crowd where they thought Sonny and Alicia should rank on The Block Roast meter.

When Scott and Shelley took the stage, they began judging the crowd’s response to Robby and Mat. They decided the crowd was louder for them and made them the winners, leaving Sonny and Alicia disappointed.

“Essentially, I feel like Shelley decided the boys were better than me, because she [decided] the clap-o-metre,” Sonny said in his piece-to-camera interview, with Alicia interjecting to say Rueben didn’t put them where they should have been, so it was his fault.

One viewer took to Facebook and slammed the judges, writing, “Seriously – rant ready. Why did Scott and Shelley decide who won roasting? One day, they will do a competition where the people choose. There is no way that they could have done a fair choice. The audience was just as loud for both the boys and the other couple.”

“I know, for such a huge prize, more accurate voting would have been good,” another responded.

“It was all a bit of a mess really,” a third agreed.

“In the past challenges where the public had to vote, they’d be handed cards and mark the house/couple they liked the best,” another said. “This should have happened last night to be fair.”

“This was the most ridiculous episode,” someone else wrote. “Where was the building and where was the ‘comedy’?”

“This show is getting worse each season; it needs to go,” one person said.

“Don’t think I laughed once,” someone else added.

“This was the worst Block episode ever!” another said.

One viewer pointed out that the money went to the people who needed it, “I know all of you have watched, who hasn’t worked out they need to spread the money! Seriously, grow up, it will go to who needs it! Ffs watched since day one, they will all finish, there will be tears!”

“Very poor way of judging, totally rigged by favouritism,” someone else added.
