The trailer for the 2025 season of The Block is out and it has revealed a new twist for the show this year.

The Block is returning for another year, and Channel 9 has released a fun promotional trailer for the new season. While there are some big moments in the video – like a shirtless Darren Palmer, and the reveal that the contestants will be building their homes in Daylesford from scratch – some fans couldn’t help but notice a tiny detail.

In the teaser, Scotty Cam and Shelley Craft are seen driving two huge trucks to Daylesford, with Scott telling Dan Reilly that he’s heading “back on the road”. The host adds, “This year we’ve packed up the whole shebang, and we’re heading for somewhere special.”

We then see Shelley driving an identical truck, saying over the radio, “Little Red Duck to Big Daddy, we’ve got a Block convoy.”

Scotty then says, “That’s right, Australia. I’ve found a cracker of a country town that you’re gonna love. And we’re rolling in for a truckload of fun.”

“Australia, a new adventure is calling,” the voiceover says. “On the edge of a picture perfect town. A Block like never before.”

It’s at this point that judge Darren Palmer appears shirtless on horseback, because, of course, he does!

Then we’re introduced to the new contestants:

Blue team – Emma and Ben
Orange team – Can and Han
Green team – Robby and Mat
Yellow team – Alicia and Sonny
Red team – Britt and Taz

“And this time, they’re building from scratch,” Scotty says.

While the trailer was very exciting, there was one detail that fans couldn’t help but comment on – the fact that Scotty and Shelley weren’t wearing seatbelts.

“Probably should have put ya seatbelts on,” one viewer wrote, while another questioned, “Where’s your seatbelts?”

“How irresponsible of Channel 9 to advertise in prime time showing celebrities driving on country roads and not wearing seatbelts,” a third said. “Clearly not aware of the road toll related to driving on rural roads.”

“Why aren’t they wearing their seatbelts, Nine?” yet another asked.

Others were quick to shut down the seatbelt chat by pointing out that they weren’t actually driving trucks, with one person writing, “Lol at everyone complaining about no one wearing seatbelts – it’s pretty obvious they aren’t actually driving…”

“They’re not actually driving lol watch the windows on the drivers side same scenery,” another added.

“It’s obviously CGI,” a third wrote.

Others shared their thoughts on the trailer, and it seems not everyone is a fan of the building-from-scratch part of this year’s season.

“The Block is supposed to be a RENOVATION show,” one fan wrote. “New builds don’t qualify and take the challenge out of working within the confines of what you’re given. Bring back buildings like the Soap Factory or the Blocktagon!”

“Another ‘biggest Block ever’ can’t wait!” another added. “Building from scratch is a game changer for sure. But I really like the idea of saving older homes.”

“So many old buildings in many outback towns that could do with a little touch up to modernise them, although The Block isn’t possibly exactly what they need, but it would give many old buildings a repurpose, too much pull it down throw away our history, repurpose not renovate,” a third said.

Others were keen to see them build from scratch, with one person writing, “I can’t wait see where this new location is so exciting, building from scratch this is gonna be good.”

Another added, “Can’t wait to see what this year holds and it’ll be interesting to see them building from scratch this time.”

“Hopefully it’s about building and designing, not Keeping Up With the Kardashians,” someone else wrote, referencing the dramatic turn the show has taken in recent years.

“Every Block ever ‘this is the biggest Block in history’,” another quipped.

Other Daylesford locals revealed the shows are finished now, with one person writing, “I drive pass them every day they are all finished the houses they look amazing.”

Another local added, “Looks like they have finished their houses, went past there last week.”
