Big Brother is back!

The Australian iteration of Big Brother is returning to its iconic home of Dreamworld on the sunny Gold Coast of Queensland – and they want YOU to apply!

After being cancelled by Channel 7 for 2024, it has been revealed that the beloved reality series will once again hit screens this year, returning to its original home on Channel 10 and its original location.

Host Mel Tracina, who is most well-known for her role as the resident cultural correspondent on The Cheap Seats is ecstatic to join the series and bring the the beloved series “home”.

“The Big Brother house is synonymous with Dreamworld, so bringing the OG format to its OG location feels right,” she says. “We’re excited to be home (and in a new house that hopefully comes with an air fryer).”

Not only will Big Brother Australia be returning to Dreamworld, it will also be returning to its original live format that audiences know and love.

Viewers can expect live nominations, live evictions, a brand-new Big Brother house, lovable housemates and plenty of fun antics!

“I was one of the millions of Aussies captivated by Big Brother when it launched on Channel 10 in the early noughties,” Mel said.

“The show has such a loyal and passionate fan base, and I am excited to help bring back the show’s original spirit (minus the flip phones and bum dancing).”

And now they are looking for a mix of relatable, everyday Australians to be a part of the 2025 cast – could this be you?

For your opportunity to become the next Aussie icon on Big Brother Australia 2025, joining a line-up of some of our favourite media personalities who started out on the series like Chrissie Swan, Ryan “Fitzy” Fitzgerald, Skye Wheatley, Tully Smyth, Sara-Marie Fedele, Tim Dormer, and Reggie Bird – apply here.

Applications close on the 1st of September 2025 and filming will commence in November of 2025. You must be 18+ and be an Australian citizen or permanent resident to apply.

The application takes 15-20 minutes and you will need to accompany it with a video that captures your personality and why would you make a great housemate so get creative!

Speaking to the Daily Mail Australia, Mel revealed there is a little twist that changes how viewers will perceive the series. In addition to live nominations and live evictions, the new season will be live streamed 24/7.

“What’s so good about this is the livestream element,” she said.

“So you don’t have to worry about getting a bad edit, or being the ‘season villain’, because viewers can log in at any time and see what the [housemates] are up to.”

Channel 10 has confirmed that the show is expected to premiere in late 2025.
