The Block host Scott Cam has revealed his new ritual while filming this year’s series of the renovation show in the regional Victorian town of Daylesford.

The 62-year-old presenter says he loves taking refreshing mineral spa baths at the town’s renowned lake.

‘The lake you can swim in, which I did most days, is full of mineral water. So you’re swimming in sparkling mineral water – it’s quite incredible!’ Scott said in a recent episode.

‘It’s the ultimate location for rest, relaxation and rejuvenation!’

He added part of what made the small town, located 111 km from Melbourne, so amazing was its breathtaking scenery and stylish shopping strip.

Scott wasn’t the only one soaking up the local vibe as his co-host Shelley Craft, 49, said the experience of filming in Daylesford far exceeded her expectations.

‘I’d had the opportunity to film in Daylesford a lot over the years. We’d actually shot The Block here with the challenges over previous years, so it was great to come back,’ she said.

‘This year we fully immersed ourselves in the community. A lot of our crew live here for the whole three months, I sort of float in and out from home but the opportunity to “live like a local” was a real positive experience.’

Daylesford, known for its mix of creatives and downsizers seeking a quieter lifestyle, made the perfect backdrop for this year’s series of the long-running Channel Nine reality TV series.

The town was set to be the site of The Block’s 2024 season, however production was eventually moved to Phillip Island following a planning dispute and community backlash.

Despite plans for the proposed setting being approved by the Hepburn Shire, Nine was then challenged in the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT) in September.

The network was reportedly forced to cancel $500,000 worth of accommodation it had booked for the show’s cast and crew.

‘We’ve had so many successful series in so many different locations, but we don’t go where we are not welcome,’ a production insider told the Herald Sun at the time.

‘Especially for the 20th series of The Block, which is so important.’
