The Phillip Island does not come cheaply!

Prolific Australian entrepreneur Adrian Portelli has provided an update about the five properties he plans to sell, after buying them on The Block in 2024.

Famously, he purchased them all for a collective $15.03 million, giving the contestants a generous payout for their time on the show.

While the billionaire businessman had purchased several properties on the hit renovation series before, he made history at the season 20 auction when he purchased every property that the blockheads had tirelessly renovated.

He then shocked fans when he put out an expression of interest to sell them all.

“For Sale. EOI. The Phillip Island Block Resort. Selling complex complete. Everything included. Will not sell houses separately,” the father-of-one posted to his Instagram stories in June 2025.

Now, he said he’s received “thousands” of messages about the houses and communal space, but he’s unable to reply to people individually.

“Now that it’s clear the property is available to purchase, anyone truly interested will find a way to get in touch,” he told Domain.

However, he said it was still an expression of interest.

“If someone is genuinely serious about the compound, they’re welcome to purchase it. Otherwise I’m more than happy to hold onto it,” he continued.

This isn’t the first time that he’s planned to sell them.

One month after The Block 2024 auction (which sisters Maddy and Charlotte won), the reality star listed all five properties as a prize in a mega-giveaway through his lottery business LMCT+.

To enter, Aussies simply had to purchase lottery tickets with the eventual winner then given the opportunity to own the properties, or take home a cash prize of $8 million instead.

Ultimately, a healthcare worker from Ballarat won the lottery and opted to take home the life-changing sum, leaving all five properties empty.

At the time, Adrian said he had no further plans to run a giveaway of the properties due to the costs involved and would instead keep the luxury residences for himself.

“I think everyone forgets that the resort is one half of the cost. So, to run a promotion like that costs double the amount we have paid for it in marketing expenses and running it and permits,” RealEstate.com reported.

“It’s really difficult to try [to] chase the money back for it.”

In November 2024, he also revealed that he was leaving the show.

“That was a message that that was my last appearance on The Block and I thought I’d go out with a bang,” he said at the time.

The Block host Scott Cam told Nova 96.9’s Fitzy & Wippa with Kate Ritchie that they did reach out to the businessman about returning.

“To be honest we said to Adrian ‘We’d love you not to come next year, if that’s all right. You know it’s up to you it’s a public auction. You can do whatever you want’”, he said.

“He said, ‘Yeah, okay, he won’t come’, but he may come. We don’t know, but we do want to give mums and dads the opportunity to have a crack at a block house…but if Adrian comes and wants to buy the lot of them, well, that rules them out.”
