Producers of The Block have been slammed after a shock accident involving a two-year-old went to air this week.
In Monday’s episode, host Scott Cam joined teammates Robby and Matt for a spot of fishing at the Tuki Trout Farm in Smeaton, Victoria, which is located 20 minutes from the show’s Daylesford site
While casually casting their lines and soaking in the tranquil scenery, a horn could be heard in the distance, disrupting their peaceful outing.
The owner of the property, Robert, assured the trio that his two-year-old grandson, who was sitting in a nearby parked car, was the source of the beeping.
The toddler somehow managed to start the car, only to crash it into a tree on a nearby embankment
Detailing the incident to the cameras, Matt and Robby admitted they were shocked, but quickly laughed it off.

‘We turn around, the car’s running, the wheels are going into this tree,’ Mat explained to camera, as Robby could not contain his laughter.
‘Robert has walked up to the car, opened the door, turned the key off, pulled out a two-year-old by his hand, and we’re standing there going like, “How is no one talking about this or panicked?”‘
As the boy was retrieved from the car by his grandfather, he could be heard crying; however, Scott Cam couldn’t help but also see the funny side.
‘That kid will remember this afternoon for the rest of his life,’ he said, laughing.
The incident did not end there, either, with the child’s grandmother, Jan, claiming that producers promised her the accident would not make it to air.
‘It was a little, minor accident, and we did ask them not to show that. They promised not to,’ Jan told Yahoo Lifestyle.
‘The child, obviously, is completely unharmed and much loved, so we’re really disappointed that it was shown.’
Also speaking to the publication, Matt added that everyone present was in a state of shock after the crash.

Detailing the incident to camera, Mat (pictured) and Robby admitted they were shocked, but were quick to laugh off the incident
‘I was standing there, everyone was dead f***ing silent, everyone’s in shock, there’s a kid getting dragged out of a car that’s two-and-a-half years old,’ he said.
‘A kid just drove a car into a tree. Honestly, [Robert] dragged his kid out, the kid is two-and-a-half years old, and he’s like, “You’ll be right mate”‘.
The pair also claimed that Scott laughed the incident off, saying: ‘You never know what’s going to happen with these two around.’
Viewers did not see the funny side, though, with many taking to social media to slam the casual reaction to the accident.
‘Did anyone watch The Block tonight?’ one viewer asked. Is it just me or am I crazy to think that they just kinda laughed off the fact that a 2-year-old was in the car and it crashed into a tree like what…’
Another replied with: ‘Yeah, I would’ve left that out of the edit.’
A third viewer recounted a tale of an acquaintance who experienced a similar incident involving a preschool-aged child.
‘Things could turn out much worse,’ they said.

‘Plenty of things kids do can be funny with a slight element of potential danger, but something like this is wild.’
Yet another replied with: OMG yes. I was like: “Someone going to have CPS knocking soon.”‘
Other Block fans were left scratching their heads over the incident that raised more questions than it answered.
‘Why was the key in the car?’ one asked, while another viewer added: ‘Why was a child in the car alone with the key?’
A third jumped in with: “2-year-old steals the car and crashes it – how did he reach the pedals?” another asked.
