Kate Garraway had an epic gardening ‘disaster’ which left her struggling to get into her home.

The Good Morning Britain presenter needed to buy some hardcore for some reconstruction work in the garden, but accidentally over-ordered to a hilarious degree.

In scenes we only really expect to ever see in a classic sitcom, Kate arrived home to realise the path to her front door was blocked off.

“She just kept saying it was ‘unreal,’” one onlooker revealed. “At first she thought it would only take a few minutes to sort out, but as time went on and the driver kept reversing and edging forward without success, you could see the frustration building. It was like something out of a TV sketch — only it was happening in real life.”

For Garraway, who has already been juggling work, family responsibilities, and the ongoing strain of her husband Derek Draper’s health, the ordeal was the last thing she needed. Dressed smartly after a morning of broadcasting, she was caught off guard as the towering lorry created an immovable barrier between her and the sanctuary of her home. Passersby reported hearing her let out a half-exasperated, half-amused cry: “I cannot believe this is happening!”

The situation quickly attracted attention online after bystanders shared photos of the enormous truck wedged across the driveway. Fans rushed to social media to express a mix of sympathy and amusement, with memes springing up almost immediately. One Twitter user quipped: “Forget Strictly — Kate’s next challenge is a three-point turn with a 12-tonne truck.” Another posted: “Kate Garraway vs. The Lorry: I know who my money’s on.”

Despite the humour, those close to Garraway admit the incident was incredibly stressful in the moment. With no way to get inside, she was left waiting for the driver and a team of workers to carefully navigate the situation. At one point, it appeared the truck might have to wait for a second vehicle to assist, raising fears that Garraway could be stranded outside her own home for hours.

Eventually, after painstaking manoeuvring, the lorry was able to reposition and complete its delivery. Garraway finally stepped inside her house, though not before giving a weary smile and a shake of her head to amused neighbours. “It’s just another day in the life,” she reportedly joked.

‘Ok so this is less than ideal,’ she wrote on Instagram. ‘Needed some hardcore for a small bit of #garden reconstruction – was advised about 2 tonnes – clicked on TWELVE tonnes!!!!

As a friend filmed her returning home, she said: ‘I thought it was gonna be a lot less! Why didn’t they send it in bags?’

The mix up in measurements left the 58-year-old presenter creasing with laughter as she chuckled: ‘I think I clicked on the wrong thing! How am I actually gonna get in?’

She added: ‘Seriously, how am I gonna get in? I’m not even joking anymore!’

She had no choice but to clamber over the rubble as her friend gave her a helping hand.

In the end, she was left with no choice but to tentatively climb over the pile of rubble, and pondered: ‘What am I going to do with it all? Right, so this is entirely my fault, isn’t it?’

Kate was able to see the funny side of her mishap, and acknowledged that no one else could be blamed.

‘So, basically, it’s not two tonnes, it’s 12 tonnes. Oh my God, I can’t even blame anyone else,’ she laughed. ‘Oh no, this is a disaster!’

Not surprisingly, Kate’s followers on Instagram couldn’t get enough of the whole ordeal.

‘Kate!!! Actually love you,’ @natcad83 commented under the video, quipping: ‘Where’s Alan Titchmarsh when you need him xx (sic)’

And @marym3107 suggested the delivery company could help out, adding: ”Oh no. Good luck glad you could still laugh… hope the company you used makes a sweet gesture and takes back 10 ton and refund.’

Kate Garraway has endured more than her fair share of life’s challenges, but her latest ordeal was something out of a sitcom — only with a 12-tonne twist. The Good Morning Britain presenter found herself literally trapped outside her own home after a mammoth delivery lorry became wedged across her driveway, blocking any chance of her getting in or out. Witnesses say the bizarre scene left Garraway frustrated, frazzled, and, at times, almost laughing at the sheer absurdity of it all.

The incident began when a huge vehicle arrived at her London property to deliver building materials for nearby work. Neighbours reportedly looked on in shock as the lorry attempted to manoeuvre into position, only to become stuck at an awkward angle that completely obstructed Garraway’s entrance. What should have been a routine drop-off quickly turned into a logistical nightmare, with Garraway stranded on the pavement, clutching her phone and shaking her head in disbelief.

The ordeal adds to a growing list of unusual challenges Garraway has faced publicly in recent years. From on-air slip-ups and emotional interviews to family struggles and now this extraordinary delivery disaster, she continues to show resilience and humour in the face of adversity. For fans, this latest saga only reinforces why she is so beloved: she remains unfiltered, relatable, and capable of turning even the most ridiculous situations into stories the whole nation can laugh about.
