EXCLUSIVE: When The Block cast and crew descended on Daylesford for three months of filming, host Scott Cam quickly embraced the local lifestyle.

In an exclusive video, which you can watch above, Scotty revealed the uniquely Daylesford habit he developed while living on location in the renowned spa town.

“The lake you can swim in, which I did most days, is mineral water, so you’re swimming in sparkling mineral water – it’s quite incredible!” he shared.

He wasn’t the only one living like a local, as co-host Shelley Craft explained.

“I’d had the opportunity to film in Daylesford a lot over the years whether it be for travel shows or experiences, we’d actually shot The Block here with the challenges over previous years, so it was great to come back,” Shelley said.

“But the difference this year is we fully immersed ourselves in the community.

“A lot of our crew live here for the whole three months, I sort of float in and float out from home but the opportunity to ‘live like a local’ was a real positive experience and Aussie rural living is the only way to go!”

Daylesford’s population is a unique mix, even when you take out the large group of Block contestants and crew.

“There’s a great community here, a lot of artists, a lot of creatives, but you’ve also have a lot of downsizers who have moved from the city, people who just want a quieter, easier life,” Shelley explained.

And fair enough, too. With hot springs, hatted restaurants and even “the best vanilla slice in Victoria”, Daylesford definitely sounds like the place to be!
