The Block’s contestants were at breaking point on Thursday night after the renovations again went sideways.

The participants raced to complete two children’s bedrooms by the end of week two – but it all went horribly wrong.

The challenge to finish both and successfully upholster a bedhead came with a $175,000 incentive, and the stakes were higher than ever.

Emotions ran especially high for Robby and Mat after a drunken decision landed them in hot water, literally.

The pair, who chose the fabric for their bed frame while drinking in a hot tub, left the judges less than impressed with their mature-looking furnishing.

‘I think my father had a pair of pyjamas that colour,’ guest judge Adrian from Snooze said of the striped headboard.

‘Was your father Hugh Hefner?’ Darren hilariously quipped back.

Over at Han and Can’s house, the pair were on a high after nailing (pun intended) their upholstered bedheads.

However, their optimism was crushed when unexpected downpour saw their plywood drenched and their floorboard dreams thwarted.

Until dried off, the wood was deemed unusable, which certainly put the duo, who were already in a time crunch, further behind schedule.

What’s more, when Han and Can’s tiler informed them that he couldn’t work next week because he was getting married, things began to look a little more dire.

After more than forty phone calls and no luck securing a replacement, Robby and Mat’s drunken jacuzzi night seemed like an inviting consolation for the pair.

Can struggled not to break down as she grappled with yet another disaster day on the site.

Tensions were also high for Sonny and Alicia, who had just days prior been forced to tear down their entire bathroom.

Chaos struck the unlucky couple once more as they had to rip up a plywood floor damaged by stormwater.

Sonny got busy angrily tearing the floor up as needed, but Alicia reached her breaking point.

The would-be renovator called her mother and sobbed uncontrollably during an emotional car ride.

‘I just want to go home,’ she wept to her poor mum.

Alicia later confided in Sonny, telling him that she wasn’t going to pack it in – but she sure was tempted.

‘If I was a quitter I’d go home today,’ she admitted.
