Nine’s reality hit The Block was rocked by a medical emergency on Monday night.

There were dramatic scenes as Candice ‘Can’ Wood, 31, could be seen driving her partner, Hannah ‘Han’ Thetford, 29, to the hospital in the middle of the night.

The geologist from the UK became alarmed after suffering severe stomach pains.

‘I was up all night vomiting … it felt like someone was cutting me up the guts with a knife,’ she said. ‘The pain was too much for me to think it was a normal bug.’

Fearing it was an attack of appendicitis, Han sought nearby medical care.

After examining Han, doctors determined that the Blockhead’s pain was the result of an acute stomach inflammation.

The medical issue means that Han will miss a week of working on site, since the doctors have ordered seven days of bed rest.

‘So we arrived back on the Block and I went straight to bed,’ Han said on the couch during the episode, recalling her ordeal.

‘Literally passed out, don’t even remember going to sleep.’

She continued, ‘I was in a lot of pain, still going to the toilet…feeling really sick and in and out of consciousness from the painkillers. I was dribbling on myself! It was bad.’

Han and Can have had a series of struggles on the series.

Earlier this month, they faced a heated clash with Foreman Dan.

The frustrated tradie came to blows with the West Australian couple when the pair decided to take matters into their own hands and waterproof their bathroom.

Dan made it clear the team needed to wait for a waterproofer to do the job professionally, but they defied his orders and got started on the task.

Upon discovering that the pair had ignored his demands, Dan exploded.

‘You’re not a licensed waterproofer; you’re not allowed to waterproof. You’re allowed to help waterproof, if the waterproofer is in there,’ he raved.

A furious Dan immediately reported the infraction to the site manager, leaving Han in tears.

‘Dan shut me down. He told me that I wasn’t allowed to touch anything. He thought I was being dodgy. That hit hard,’ a tearful Han said.

Days before the hospital run, Han and Can were crushed when an unexpected downpour saw their plywood drenched and their floorboard dreams thwarted.

Han and Can’s tiler then informed them that he couldn’t work because he was getting married.

After more than forty phone calls, they had no luck securing a replacement.

Can struggled not to break down as she grappled with yet another disaster day on the site.
