The acquisition of center Sam Bennett by the Montreal Canadiens has been brought up once again. This time, it’s Georges Laraque who spoke about it on BPM Sports, and he even suggested a concrete price.

This is not the first time this acquisition has been mentioned for the Habs, but it’s the first time we have a concrete proposal in terms of price.

This 7-year contract would take him to the age of 35.

I agree that the Habs need to find a solid second-line center to play with Ivan Demidov, and I agree that Sam Bennett would be excellent for the Montreal Canadiens, but the seven-year contract is far too risky in my humble opinion.

He is a player that Habs fans would surely love, but he is a player who unfortunately risks becoming a burden (at 7 million per year) once he hits his thirties.
