Rep. Buddy Carter (R-Ga.) wrote a letter to the Norwegian Nobel Committee, recommending Trump for the award “in recognition of his extraordinary and historic role in brokering and ending the armed conflict.”

Carter, who has served as the representative for the Peach State’s 1st District in Savannah since 2015, stated, “President Trump’s influence was instrumental in forging a swift agreement that many believed to be impossible.”

In addition, Carter said Trump took strong, decisive measures to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons and to stop Iran’s nuclear aspirations from becoming the greatest state sponsor of terrorism in the world.

Trump announced the ceasefire agreement late Monday, and it was supposed to go into force overnight. The announcement came after days of missile exchanges and a dramatic escalation that started with an Israeli preemptive assault on Iran’s nuclear facilities. Iran reacted with rocket assaults on a US airfield in Qatar after the Trump forces joined the battle with airstrikes on three important Iranian nuclear installations. However, an early notification was allegedly given, and no injuries were reported.

He added that Trump’s actions “exemplify the very ideals that the Nobel Peace Prize seeks to recognize: the pursuit of peace, the prevention of war, and the advancement of international harmony.”

Was Trump nominated for Nobel Peace Prize for the first time?

Trump has previously received nominations for the Nobel Peace Prize. In the start of this year, Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) also filed a nomination, pointing to the worldwide ramifications of Trump’s victory in the 2024 election.

There are 338 contenders for the 2025 Peace Prize as of right now, according to the official Nobel website.

Carter has been an outspoken backer of Trump and has previously proposed symbolic laws in his favor, such as renaming Greenland “Red, White and Blueland,” according to Fox News.

Earlier this month, Ishaq Dar, the foreign minister and deputy prime minister of Pakistan, recommended Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize in a letter to the Norwegian Nobel Peace Prize Committee. he hailed Trump for his “decisive diplomatic intervention” during the current India-Pakistan dispute.
