Sidney Crosby’s name is once again swirling at the center of trade rumors, and this time, the whispers are louder than ever—especially in Montreal.

As speculation reaches a fever pitch, even Crosby and his agent have weighed in, adding fuel to the fire and sending Canadiens fans into a frenzy of hope and curiosity.

But beneath the noise, one burning question remains unanswered: What would it actually take to bring a living legend like Crosby to Montreal?

This isn’t just another trade scenario—it’s a potential seismic shift for two storied franchises, with the future of the Penguins and the Canadiens hanging in the balance.

Would Crosby, known for his loyalty, really approve a move that could reshape his legacy and give Pittsburgh a massive boost for their rebuild? And if so, what kind of blockbuster package would be enough to satisfy both sides?

In a recent podcast episode, respected analyst Mathias Brunet dropped a tantalizing hint about the possible price, leaving fans to speculate wildly.

The details are more surprising than you might think—and they could change everything you know about this ongoing saga. Dive into the full story to uncover the shocking pieces involved in the Crosby sweepstakes.

The name Sidney Crosby refuses to leave trade rumors, especially when it comes to the Montreal Canadiens.

It’s all starting up again, especially after Sid and his agent commented on the trade rumours and the noise surrounding his future.

That said, one big question remains.

What would the price be to acquire Sidney Crosby?

It’s true that he would choose his next team himself, if it came to that, and it’s also true that the GM of the Pittsburgh Penguins would not have the upper hand in this case, but don’t forget we are talking about Sidney Crosby here.

If he leaves the Penguins (and that’s still a big “IF”), he might still want to leave them with a strong legacy and give them one last big helping hand.

How?

Certainly not by being traded for peanuts.

Sidney Crosby could possibly convince himself to leave the Penguins if it allowed them to get a big return and solidly move their rebuild forward (it would be his way of staying loyal to the Penguins and helping them, while still being traded).

In short, for all these good reasons (which remain very hypothetical, admittedly), the price to pay would still be quite massive.

That’s also what the excellent Mathias Brunet thinks.

Mathias Brunet reveals the three pieces the Canadiens would give up in exchange for Sidney Crosby, according to him

As reported by Marco Normandin, during the first episode of the podcast Mathias et Le Serpent (their new show), Mathias Brunet stated the following:

“For Sidney Crosby, it’s going to cost two first-round picks and a prospect who isn’t named Demidov or Reinbacher.”

– Mathias Brunet

So it could cost two first-round picks and Michael Hage?

“When asked if Michael Hage could potentially be sacrificed in such a trade, he replied that it would indeed be a possibility that should possibly be considered.”

– Marco Normandin

And you, would you be willing to pay that price to bring none other than Sidney Crosby to the Montreal Canadiens?
