Strictly Come Dancing star Chris McCausland has left fans “very disappointed” after a career update.

The comedian made history on the BBC One competition last year, lifting the glitterball trophy with Dianne Buswell.

The pair have been keeping fans updated on their friendship on social media and their weekly podcast Winning Isn’t Everything.

But Chris has now sparked concerns with fans after revealing it may be coming to an end as Dianne prepares for the next series of Strictly, which launches this weekend.

One fan asked Chris on X: “Chris!! Your podcast can’t be ending, I spend all week wishing it was Thursday. We were robbed with a shorter one too this week.”

Chris replied: “I’m afraid it’s a possibility. At the minute it doesn’t look like Dianne will be allowed to do it through Strictly.”

Fans were left gutted, with one saying: “Nooooo Thursdays won’t be the same without you two ! Maybe she will be able to when BBC realise how popular it is.”

Another commented: “Hopefully after Strictly it could come back.”

Someone else said: “Very sad and disappointed if that’s the case. I look forward to listening every Thursday and never missed an episode. The connection with you and Dianne shows on the podcast and I will really miss it, entertaining, funny and provides some comfort and relief from a crazy world.”

“So disappointed to hear this today!! Thursday’s just won’t be the same without you pair to brighten up the day!! What can we do to get you back on air??” another wrote.

The BBC declined to comment when approached.

Chris and Dianne have reunited for the pre-recorded launch show, as they’ll reprise their Bafta award-winning waltz to You’ll Never Walk Alone.

The professional dancer is also the first to take part in the competition while pregnant, as she announced the news she was expecting her first child with YouTuber Joe Sugg, who she met on Strictly in 2018, earlier this month.

She later clarified her future on the show, confirming she’d be returning to Strictly and would have a celebrity partner as fans shared their worries for her safety.

An insider also told The Sun: “Diane would never have turned down Strictly.

“She is making history as the first pregnant star to dance on the show.

“She’s full of enthusiasm and raring to go.

“She’s been giving it her all in rehearsals and is very aware of what she can and can’t do.

“Like the true pro she is, she knows where her limitations will be when it comes to lifts and more complex moves.”

Dianne also reassured fans, saying: “I’m still doing everything I did before. Obviously with lifts there’s going to be a bit more caution. But my doctor has said everything is normal.

“He said, basically, if you’ve done it before, in terms of being a dancer and you’ve done this, done that, then crack on and keep doing what you’re doing.”
