The cracks are starting to show for some teams on The Block.

After four weeks of the series’ 2025 iteration, it all became too much for hopefuls Alicia and Sonny and Han and Can on Monday night’s episode.

Both teams were still recovering from a savage assessment from the judges of their main bedroom and walk-in wardrobe reveal on Sunday.

Han and Can found themselves at the bottom, with a judges’ score of 20, while Alicia and Sonny walked away with a slightly better 21.5.

As the emotional strains of Gary Jules’ Mad World played, a reflective Alicia and Sonny revealed that they took their low score to heart.

‘I’ve woken up this morning and feel every bit bashed that we got last night in judging, just feel horrible,’ Alicia said as she sat with Sonny on the couch.

Alicia added that the sobering assessment caused her to seek solace in her family, which only made her homesick.

‘I think my last thought was calling the kids, and I had to get off the phone because I was crying. That just keeps playing on my mind,’ she said.

It was a sentiment Alicia shared with a producer on site who asked how she was feeling post-judging.

Offering a thumbs down, Alicia added: ‘I feel sad today. I miss home.’

‘It makes me feel like I’m out of depth and I question why I’m here.’

Sonny added that being away from their children wasn’t something he or Alicia was experienced in.

‘For 12 years, we’ve been away from our kids for like 12 days. We’ve now done five weeks,’ he said.

It was a similar story for fellow contestants Han and Can, who were also still reeling from the judges’ savage assessment.

‘Coming in this morning I was a bit upset and feeling a little lacking in confidence in myself and design choices – obviously we got the lowest score in the bunch,’ Can said.

Sharing a quiet moment before picking up tools, Han asked her teammate how she was feeling.

Can struggled to hold back her tears.

“I’m still a bit upset about the room,’ she said and when Han asked ‘why?’ Can struggled to give an answer.

Sensing the emotion, Han tenderly embraced Can, who revealed that the experience had left her ‘disheartened’.

The episode comes after insiders claimed that Nine has already chosen the winner for The Block 2025.

Whispers are rife among this year’s contestants that House One couple Emma and Ben are already being primed to take out the crown on Auction Day.

According to an insider, who wishes to remain anonymous, it’s become ‘obvious’ Nine is giving the high school sweethearts priority treatment to win season 21.

‘It is really small things but when you talk to previous Block contestants they have pointed out similar trajectories,’ the contestant told Daily Mail.

'I think my last thought was calling the kids, and had to get off the phone because I was crying. That just keeps playing on my mind,' Alicia said

‘It gets more and more obvious as the auction draws closer, we are told.’

They went on to point out prior seasons where it was easy to see which couple was set to take out the crown based on the treatment they received from Nine.

However, Nine has said these claims are ‘false’.

‘All Block auctions are conducted by licensed real estate agents who are required to comply with all relevant laws and are conducted under the public auction rules, while in the presence of Consumer Affairs,’ a spokesperson also told Daily Mail.

Nevertheless, it would seem all of this speculation has upset some of the other houses in this year’s renovation competition – which has been dubbed Heartland.

‘They don’t deserve this,’ one furious castmate told Daily Mail, insisting producers have quietly set up Emma and Ben for a fairy-tale win, weeks out from auction.

According to multiple other insiders, the Melbourne couple ‘tick the boxes’ of what Channel Nine wants for its new, family-friendly rebrand – the nice guys who triumph over the drama-makers.
