It is Monday morning, the 18th of August, and a whole bunch of people have asked me to cover this case—baby Emmanuel Haro.
He has been missing, supposedly kidnapped, Thursday evening at 7:47 p.m. Officers responded to a call at the Yucaipa parking lot outside of the Big Five Sporting Store. Emmanuel was only 7 months old. His mother had been into the store to buy something for her stepson. And then, the next thing she knew, she hit the ground, and little baby Emmanuel was gone.
Okay, so someone has kidnapped baby Emmanuel. Now, the mother went to the ground. She got a black eye, but that black eye does not look fresh. This interview was Friday, just a day after. That doesn’t look like a fresh black eye to me. I don’t know about you—let me know if you think that looks fresh.
Police brought scent-tracking dogs to try to locate Emmanuel or any scent of any strange person. Now, difficult job for a dog in a parking lot, where there are a lot of different human scents. Very difficult. But they didn’t get anything. They didn’t find anything. Unable to get any leads from that.
Deputies say there are inconsistencies with her account of what happened.
Good evening. And as you said, that’s why investigators now say they cannot rule out foul play in this case. This, as the baby’s parents went public at this Big Five yesterday, pleading for their son’s safe return.
“It’s just a baby. Just give our son back, please.”
Investigators say after interviewing Rebecca Haro, she was confronted with inconsistencies in her initial statement, and then she declined, they say, to continue with the interview. We reached out to San Bernardino County investigators for clarification on this. At this point, they put out a simple statement and said they are not taking any further questions today. This, as the search for baby Emmanuel continues.
Rebecca doesn’t live in Yucaipa. She’s from Cabazon, which is 90 miles east of Los Angeles. She was in Yucaipa for her older stepson’s sports game. She says, “I noticed a smell from my baby, so I wanted to change him before going into the store. I took him out of the car seat and laid him on a chair. I had his diaper here, and someone said, ‘Hola.’ I couldn’t turn around. I don’t remember nothing. I got up from the floor. I didn’t see my child. Someone took him from me.”
The police haven’t released any details about the alleged attack or attacker because, frankly, the cops don’t believe that a kidnap happened. They haven’t said that in those exact words, but the parents are prime suspects. Yes, this is another one that I think is going to end really badly.
This weekend, the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department says the story Rebecca told detectives had inconsistencies. And when confronted about it, she ended the interview. The sheriff’s department then said they are unable to rule out foul play in the disappearance of Emmanuel. They searched with canines, conducted multiple interviews, and say they remain committed to finding him.
Now, police have confronted her with these inconsistencies. We don’t know what she said in police interviews, but she stopped talking. Both parents—Rebecca and Jake Haro—have stopped being cooperative with the police.
Jake told KTLA: “Whoever took my son, please return him. We just want him back. We won’t do anything to you. Just give us our son. Keep him safe. Don’t hurt him. Make sure you feed him and change him.”
Rebecca added: “If you know anything, please come forward, or take him to the cops. I’m begging you.”
So, just on the slim chance that he was kidnapped—and again, I don’t believe it—that’s just my opinion. Emmanuel was last seen wearing a Nike onesie. He weighs approximately 21 lbs, stands about 24 inches tall, has brown hair and brown eyes.
Anyone with information is asked to call 911 or the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Dispatch at 909-387-8313. But again, the cops have Rebecca and Jake Haro as prime suspects.
Grandma, Rebecca’s mother, has spoken and said there’s no way Rebecca would do anything to Emmanuel.
We spoke with the baby’s grandmother last night. She told us the couple would never hurt their child, and that her daughter has been trying for years to have her own baby boy.
“They’re not going to hurt that baby. That couple are just homebodies. She’s been without her baby since yesterday afternoon. If you have my grandson, please give him to his mom. She’s going crazy. Please, have mercy on her.”
Well, maybe Rebecca didn’t. Maybe it was Jake, because we know he’s got a prior history of child abuse. He’s done time for child abuse dating back a few years, admittedly. But still, past behavior predicts future behavior—sometimes, a lot of the time.
I’m not necessarily saying just because Jake has a prior that he’s done something to baby Emmanuel. But there’s a risk there, isn’t there?
Now, the latest: cops once again at the Haro’s home. We don’t know why they were there—imminent arrest, more forensics. Again, the parents are not cooperative anymore.
So, people are coming together for a candlelight vigil, with signs like “Justice for Emmanuel.” That says it all to me. Justice for Emmanuel. But what has happened to him is the question.
It’s an unusual story, in my opinion. Could baby Emmanuel have been kidnapped? Sure. There are enough crazy people out there. But I just have a bad feeling about this.
Could I be wrong? Sure. Have I been wrong in the past? Yeah. But I don’t like this. I really do not like this at all.
Now, there are a lot of rumors in the last few hours—rumors that blood has been found, rumors that he’s been found possibly in a dumpster. Other rumors say the family’s backyard is being dug up. None of these have been confirmed by law enforcement.
But I do think the cops saying that they can’t rule out foul play this early on is very telling. And I’m sorry, I just don’t believe them. I don’t believe them.
Let’s see though. What do you think? Let me know in the comments, and I’ll see you in the next video. Bye, guys.
