A TV insider has exposed the staggering amount Channel 9 pays to keep beloved star Scott Cam on The Block.
Scott Cam’s eye-watering salary for his role on The Block has reportedly been revealed.
The beloved TV host, who recently declared this year’s five teams the best crew he’s seen on the show yet, has been at its helm for 19 years.
A TV insider reportedly told Women’s Day that Channel 9 was keen to keep Scott and his co-star Shelley Craft on the hugely popular series for as long as they could, and so they made sure he was happy with a sum “close to $2 million dollars” a year.

“As long as audiences keep watching, Scotty and Shelley are the heart of the show,” they said.
“It’s ultimately up to the network, but if Scott wants to stay, they will find a way to keep him.”
The insider went on to reveal that Scott’s a “delight” to work with which is a big part of the reason he’s been around for so long.
“He still feels lucky to be doing it year after year and to be part of a show audiences still love. There’s a real sense of gratitude,” added the source.
The huge sum would count Scott among the highest paid TV stars in Australia at the moment.
During a recent interview with Realestate.com.au, Cam boasted about this year’s series revealing viewers will be hugely impressed with the talent of the contestants.

“Over the years, there’ve been some great contestants, but as a collective group, these have been my best,” Scott said.
“I think they’ve worked really hard, which I love. And resilience is a really important thing to me, and lack of complaining.”
He went on to reveal that he gets frustrated with contestants that “whinge” about their time on the show, saying that the only way to get impressive results is to put your head down and push through.
“The complaining annoys me because I’ve worked hard all my life, and when I was a young bloke, I worked like a Trojan. And so, I could have done this,” he confessed.
“This lot worked really hard with a great deal of resilience, and they were good to the crew.
“That’s the other big thing. They had a few blues with each other. So, it’s not boring. But it’s justified. And they were just good to everybody.”
