Backyard Week is in full swing and oh boy, there are some big plans underway!
But with time and budget constraints… who knows if everything will come to fruition come Sunday.
In House 3, they’ve got a whole extra problem to contend with as well: updating their shed after it failed compliance yesterday.
Although Britt and Taz have not told any of their competitors about this mishap, rumours are running wild around site.
And also singing and dancing wild, courtesy of Mat. Who else?
No Robbys were harmed in the making of this song. We think. (Nine)
Sonny doesn’t like that his police neighbours stayed silent about the issue when asked just yesterday.
“If we were swearing on the bible, omission is just as bad as lying,” he reckons.
This year, the backyards are huge and the teams are getting very creative with how to fill their spaces.
Fresh off House 5’s winner’s getaway, where they received some great advice from landscaping guru and this week’s guest judge Dave Franklin, Mat’s got himself a big, mature bottle tree.
In House 3, Britt and Taz arrange a landscaper through hipages to do the work that the Cursio brothers were originally going to do before Alicia vetoed their plan.
And in House 2, Foreman Dan wants to know what Han and Can are planning for their pool cabana, but Han is in their van.
From left: Can, Dan, Han in their van. (Nine)
She says she’s tossing up whether or not to render the space, which Dan advises against, and Can does an odd British accent to express her opposition to the plan too.
But at least they haven’t actually done anything Dan doesn’t approve of just yet… unlike Emma and Ben.
Their fully poured concrete slab has just been deemed too steep.
“This may need to be ripped up and this is going to cause a lot of headaches for these guys right now,” Dan reacts.
Oh dear. (Nine)
After speaking on the phone, Can has joined Han in the van.
But maybe she shouldn’t have, because they spiral into a huge argument.
“If you don’t trust me… and you don’t trust me with my dad then that’s on you,” we hear Han say.
Awkward. (Nine)
Can wants to keep the cabana simple in the interest of time and money, and Han wants to do what she wants to do… and eat her bagel in peace.
“And where does that get us? The bottom of the leaderboard,” Can fires at her.
Um, ouch.
Emma returns from a shopping trip to find Ben rocking in the corner of their garage not talking to anyone.
She attempts to talk through solutions but he’s decided the best thing to do is just rip out all their concrete.
It’s quite literally $20k down the drain.
The next day is Wednesday, but more importantly it’s Britt’s birthday!
Despite whatever present Taz has accidentally left for her in WA (so, nothing) and a sash and balloons from Leesh, the best gift is from Site Manager Simmo who we don’t think even knows it’s her birthday.
Their new shed plans are approved!
Other festivities are taking place around the site.
Next door, a legend of The Block 2025 is ready to get stuck in to House 2’s landscaping: Han’s dad.
And down the other end, Robby and Mat recreate cinematic history on their Titanic outdoor fireplace.
NEEEEEEAR, FARRRRRRRRR… (Nine)
The boys seem to have a lot of time up their sleeves, actually.
They’re able to recount witnessing a brazen crime, as firewood was stolen from House 3 by two very tough, very intimidating thieves.
All while sitting in front of the, coincidentally blazing, outdoor fire of their own.
IN BROAD DAYLIGHT?! (Nine)
As the day goes on, it’s worry central on site.
Han and Can cannot shake their money woes. They’ve only got $50k to spend this week, the least by far of any team.
Can’s full of regret for their expensive choices inside the house but Han thinks “she’s overreacting”.
Stressssssssed. (Nine)
At Emma and Ben’s, even Dan’s concerned about how little progress they’re making.
The amount of work left to do is “not achievable” in Emma’s mind and for the first time all season, the positive pair are not very positive.
That night, it’s time to celebrate Britt’s birthday… as well as Emma and Alicia’s in the next couple of weeks.
How economical!
But, well, Britt has stood everyone up.
It’s her birthday and she’ll ditch everyone if she wants to. (Nine)
Britt’s social battery is dead and buried after 10 weeks of The Block so she opts for a quieter dinner with just Taz, while she dreams of sitting on the couch all alone.
We’ll see you tomorrow night, where the birthday balloons go POP as Britt and Taz find themselves having to dismantle their backyard hero and things go from bad to worse for Emma and Ben as well.
