Former Married At First Sight groom Patrick Dwyer has resurfaced with a striking new look after retreating from the spotlight for years.

The reality star, who appeared on season eight of the hit Channel Nine dating show in 2021, was spotted on Instagram this week looking barely recognisable as he enjoyed a summer holiday in the UK.

Taking to his Stories on Thursday, the personal trainer shared a sunburnt selfie alongside the caption: ‘Of course I would get burnt in the UK.’

Fans were quick to notice that Patrick, who once sported a geeky hairstyle and shy demeanour on the show, looks worlds away from his MAFS persona.

He now has more rugged style, sporting a short quiff and well-groomed facial hair.

His surprise return to social media comes after his TV bride Belinda Vickers made headlines by announcing her real-life engagement to wealthy businessman Hayden Burbank.

Patrick and Belinda were a quirky fan favourite during their time on MAFS.

Viewers still remember one of the more memorable scenes from Intimacy Week where Patrick prepared a bubble bath to help build a physical connection with his shy bride.

What started as a romantic gesture quickly turned awkward when Patrick began massaging Belinda’s feet in the tub.

Following his stint on the show, Patrick quietly faded from the public eye, switching his social media accounts to private and steering clear of reality TV circles.

But he didn’t disappear without making a few changes – including a dramatic $28,000 dental makeover courtesy of celebrity dentist Dr Deepan Duraisamy, better known as Dr Dee.

Patrick received 12 of the dentist’s famous Picasso Porcelain Veneers and told Daily Mail Australia at the time, ‘I didn’t realise how bad my teeth were until I saw them on TV.’
