“Didn’t want to disadvantage anyone.”

Han and Can scored their first win on The Block 2025, edging out Emma and Ben by cashing in their bonus point gnome.
Han and Can, and Emma and Ben both scored a total of 28 out of 30 for their main bathrooms, but the women’s bonus point meant they finished up ahead, and they scored the $10,000 room reveal prize.
While Emma and Ben took the loss well, saying they’d rather come second than joint first, Han told Chattr that she felt bad they won on a technicality.
“Emma and Ben were lovely and gracious. We did feel a little bad using it, and even hesitated at the time, because we care about others and didn’t want to disadvantage anyone,” she explained.
Each week, the room reveal winners receive a night away from their caravan living quarters as part of the prize. Han added that she would have loved to bring Emma and Ben along with her and Can.
“Looking back, we wished we had taken them along for the winners’ dinner and overnight stay. We even said that if we won again and there was space, we’d bring everyone with us.”

Han, who was out most of the week with a stomach infection, said she was so proud of her partner, Can, for pulling off a winning room under such difficult circumstances.
“When we found out that we had won we were in shock, it was a huge week. We couldn’t believe it. It took a second to sink in. We put a lot of effort into the design and hoped the Resin Amber Bath would be a winner!
“I was super proud of Can. She was thrown into the deep end, and she took it on like a champion and I couldn’t be more proud of her for being able to execute the room to the standard we did with the smallest team.”

Can is super grateful for Tom Calleja’s help on the main bathroom renovation
Han’s stomach infection saw her spend three days in hospital during Week 3 of The Block. With the main bathroom renovation weighing on Can’s shoulders, Tom Calleja, who competed with his wife Sarah Jane on The Block 2022, stepped in to help. Tom’s a six-time room reveal winner and a plumber by trade, so his expertise came in handy.
“I was lucky to have the incredible Tom from the Gisborne season step in as a subby for Han. His support, guidance, and willingness to share his knowledge made such a difference. And I loved getting stuck in on the tools, something Han and I often do together at home, so it felt great to take on that role and really get involved,” Can told Chattr.

Han added that their worker Ben isn’t actually a builder, and said she generally took on that role. So, with her sick in hospital, Can had a lot on her plate.
“It was very stressful,” she said. “What viewers may not realise is that Ben wasn’t a builder, he was a chippy, even though they are calling him a ‘builder’ for the purpose of the show.
“Before we went on the show production told us that we “you don’t need a builder, you just need a good chippy so I ended being the builder and stepping into the role of managing the build, trades, making calls, placing orders, and making countless daily decisions.
“Our team was just Ben, me, Can, two plasterers from Ballarat Plaster Specialists, and one tiler in the first bathroom week, so we were running lean compared to other teams.”
Han said that while she was sick, she found herself constantly thinking about the main bathroom renovation.
“I felt an immense amount of guilt for being unwell, but I was bedridden for three days and heavily medicated for pain. Even so, we stayed in touch so I could answer [Can’s] calls and provide guidance whenever I could. Whenever I was awake, my mind was still on the build, trying to help however possible while feeling very unwell. It was overwhelming, but we got through it together.”
