This is a story that circulated quite a bit in the middle of last week and was addressed by Kent Hughes during his post-trade deadline press conference, but now the player himself has spoken about it.

Nick Suzuki confirms that he had a meeting with Kent Hughes and reflects on the discussion he had with his GM

In an interview with TVA Sports journalist, Renaud Lavoie, the captain of the Canadiens finally agreed to discuss this meeting.

I think it says a lot about Suzuki to see that he had the courage to meet with Kent Hughes, ask him not to trade any regular players from the team, to let the team win games, and most importantly, to deliver the goods afterwards!

Suzuki scored 13 points in 5 games after his famous discussion with Kent Hughes, and the team won five games in a row.

However, now that it’s done and Kent Hughes hasn’t positioned himself as a “seller” at the deadline, the Canadiens must continue winning games and stay in the playoff mix.

Without realizing it, the team could be just 5 crucial points from the playoffs by tomorrow morning, so the Habs absolutely cannot afford to lose even 2 or 3 games in a row.
