Just as Britt and Taz dug into the biggest backyard on The Block this year, Site Manager Aidan stopped by.

And in Block land, that’s never a good sign.

“Sorry to be the bearer of bad news,” he says after dropping a bombshell so bad, it could mean Britt and Taz “can’t sell” their house.

During Sunday’s Room Reveals, a wine cellar in Britt and Taz’s shed was the last thing the judges were expecting.

“Is this compliant?” wondered a stunned Shaynna Blaze.

That’s exactly what Aidan wanted to confirm.

You see, their shed can’t be a habitable space, meaning you wouldn’t spend more than an hour in there at a time in there.
Despite House 3’s original plans being ticked off, the site’s building surveyor wasn’t “terribly happy” with what was delivered in the end.

To put it simply, they approved a cellar not a bar in the plans.

“There’s a bit of a difference between having a wine cellar with a bench you can have a glass of wine at and… having a flat out bar,” Aidan argued.

“If we had seen a drawing with this big kitchen bench in here, I would have said ‘no way’.”

Without approval, this room now had to change.

“For him to say, ‘Well, you can’t sell your house’, that’s why we’re here.”

The couple were peeved, comparing their space to House 5’s also “inhabitable” but approved wine cellar.

They felt the only difference was that House 5 had more stored wine, a difference Aidan confirmed.

“It’s just so frustrating,” said Taz, shaking his head.

Britt jumped in: “Because you try to do the right thing and get everything ticked off and it was, and then for them now to say, actually we won’t sell your house…”

“It’s so rubbish. It doesn’t make any sense.”

Is this the end of Britt and Taz’s cellar dreams? Aidan did have a solution.
