Despite their recent falling out, The Block fan favourites Britt and Taz have come to the defence of their co-stars, Sonny and Alicia, after they’ve been viciously attacked online. The West Australian police officers told Yahoo Lifestyle that, regardless of their recent confrontations with the couple on the show, they don’t support any hate being sent their way.

“We absolutely do not condone any comments from trolls and stuff like that,” Taz said.

“We deal with mental health on a daily basis with our work, and cyberbullying and trolling is one of the very, very big excesses on mental health.

“It just absolutely takes a toll and deteriorates people, so we do not condone any of that. So we do feel for Han and Can, and we do feel for Sonny and Alicia, who are copping the brunt of it.”

Sonny and Alicia have been repeatedly trolled online throughout this year’s season of The Block for their design skills, outspoken personalities, and even their appearances.

In fact, the hate towards them and their co-stars Han and Can has been so great that the reality show’s official social media accounts shared a post last week declaring that “personal attacks, negativity and trolling will not be tolerated”.

Sonny and Alicia speak out about ‘rough’ backlash

The mother-of-three recently told Yahoo Lifestyle it’s been “tough” seeing so many negative comments, messages, and posts written about her, and she never expected to receive so much hate.

“I’m not going to sugarcoat it, I had a really bad week last week. I really struggled, and it was really rough,” she said. “Sometimes I feel like, because Britt and Taz have this nice edit and Emma and Ben are just the happy couple that can do no wrong, the hate’s got to go somewhere.

“I think because I’m a stronger personality who’s not afraid to voice how I feel, rather than shutting it down and just pretending and talking about things behind people’s backs or just not saying it at all, I feel like the trolls feel like that that’s okay, that they can just come and say whatever they want to me and think that I’m this nasty person when I’m not. I’m not a nasty person.”

Are Britt and Taz still friends with Sonny and Alicia?

Time and time again, The Block has seen friendships form in the early weeks of the competition and fall apart at the halfway point. This year’s season is no different, with Britt and Alicia currently acting more like strangers than the best friends they once were.

While viewers have questioned whether the former BFFs will manage to rekindle their friendship by the end of the season, things don’t seem promising.

“I think we’re all civil,” Britt remarks. “We’re all adults at the end of the day, and we all understand we’re representing Channel 9 and we’re representing The Block.

“It’s not like previous years, where people couldn’t be in the same room. It’s not like that. This year’s a little bit different in that sense. We’re all civil.”

‘Never said to our face’

Taz adds that it’s “difficult to go back to how it was” after seeing Sonny and Alicia’s talk about them on the show.

“You’re hearing people talk about you behind your back, but stuff they alleged, ‘We’d say to your face’ was never said to our face,” he shares.

“The time for forgiveness and everything like that was there, but they just hold on to things, so we can’t really just keep going the way we were going.”
