EXCLUSIVE: While The Block changes lives, it’s a lot of work to get there – so it’s no wonder the Blockheads often ask themselves ‘why did we sign up for this?’

In an exclusive and unseen video, which you can watch above, the five 2025 teams share the moments they struggled the most, from clashes with their neighbours to brutal feedback from the judges to panicked decision making.

However, Emma shocked even her husband Ben when she said she’d had “a pretty cruisey Block experience”.

“I can pinpoint a couple,” Ben said in response, listing Week 1 waterproofing as his first ‘what the heck am I doing here?’ moment.

“There were heaps of stressful times! I don’t know why Emma answered that saying it’s been pretty cruisey,” he laughed.

Emma stuck by her point-of-view, though: “I think we’ve been lucky with our experience on The Block. I know some of our neighbours have copped it a lot harder than us.”

Down the other end of the site in House 5, Mat said his major ‘what did we sign up for?’ moment came during Week 5’s Living and Dining build.

“We’re on a construction site, we have no idea what we’re doing as a hairdresser and a barber and you’re having to make such crucial decisions off-the-cuff,” he explained.

“There’s so many trades and people pulling you in every which direction, five weeks in I’m thinking ‘there’s seven more weeks of this!’, with no friends, no family, nothing else besides this build.

“That was the time I was like ‘what have we done?!’”

The other teams cited one of the season’s most heated confrontations as their most challenging moment, as well as some tough feedback from the judges and Taz’s dreaded Kitchen Week.

Fingers crossed that when Auction Day arrives, all the challenges will be worth it in the end!
